Update: I had my surgery on Monday, and all went well. My doctor told me that the procedure was "textbook." He installed an 18 cm AMS LGX. My doctor said he left me 40 percent inflated. I was happy to hear this, as I have experienced a great deal of atrophy over the past 11 years of being out of the game.

I got home from the hospital yesterday. Before leaving, a nurse removed the drain tube and catheter. Everything else at the hospital was uneventful, except for horrible food and a few crazy people. I went to Walgreens to pick up pain meds, and they weren't there. My wife went back to pick them up later. When I got home, I was finally able to survey matters. There was a fair amount of swelling and pain but nothing too significant. I grabbed some ice and sat down to watch the Bruins game! I took an oxy before bed and struggled to find a comfortable sleep position. I'll have to work on that.

The swelling is down a little bit this morning. I'm not too concerned about anything I've seen so far. I don't plan on doing much for the next few days, other than sit, ice, and relax.

My next appointment is slated for Tuesday, March 28th. That's when I think we'll have a conversation about cycling soon. I'm not hell bent on rushing things; I've waited long enough, so I'm okay with a pragmatic approach. As I mentioned in my OP, Dr. Parulkar uses the Perito technique. So there are like a billion YouTube videos I can reference if necessary.

FT is an incredible group. Many of us share a lot of similar experiences. It's good to hear your reassurance and positive feedback. Thank you all for your support.

I'll keep you posted over the weeks to come.

Respectfully,

Which "procedure" did your doc use -- penoscrotal or infrapubic?

Whichever it was: Best wishes for a quick and uneventful recovery. :)

Congrats! Yes, definitely take time to chill for the next couple of days. Sleeping is going to be tough for a while, sorry. Pillows between the knees may help. Satin boxers were my comfy night wear for a couple months.
Hope your next few weeks are pain free!

Congratulations Ralph!

Welcome to the Bionic Club!!!

I'm glad all went well, it sounds like you stayed overnight instead of a normal outpatient procedure as most are.

Yes, Ice,Ice, Ice and more gel ice packs, at least for me because I had the penoscrotal install and my scrotum swoll up a good bit. We have two motorized dual seat leather entertainment recliners where I spent most of my time recuperating, it was good to have something to elevate my legs so that they wouldn't put pressure on my scrotum.

I see that you got 18cm AMS 700 LGX, which is the same make and size that I got, except I also got 3cm Rear Tip Extenders which are installed inside your body proximally down to the crux area so that the tubes will reach the scrotum for the pump placement.

Looking forward to more updates.

When you get a chance set up your profile signature that goes at the bottom of post that you make and replies. It tells us a little bit more about you so that we can answer questions better.

Congrats again!

Happy Friday update! Surgery was this past Monday and I'm feeling okay right now. Still have some soreness but nothing that isn't manageable.

Pushing up from the bottom of my scrotum I can still feel the bulb so I guess that's a good thing. Still 40 percent inflated so that accounts for a little achiness and I'm experiencing some swelling in the scrotum from the bulb. My first post-op appointment is next Tuesday. I'm assuming my doctor may deflate me and give me instructions for cycling at some point down the road. Not sure yet, I'll know soon enough.

There are some questions I have for the next few days and weeks for some of the grizzled vets in the group:

- Tight underwear or loose? It seems like loose underwear works better in bed. Should I wear something tighter like compression shorts if I'm going to go somewhere and loose to bed?

- When can I start some very light exercise? I really feel like a slug right now. I'd love to get out to my local "rail to trail" to do some easy walking. However, I don't want to do more than I should and experience a setback.

- How long before your doctors deflated you after surgery? Right now the thought of anyone including myself touching the bulb is kind of scary.

- How long before your doctor told you to begin cycling? Again, I'm in no hurry. Just curious to see what the timeline was for you guys.

Thanks in advance guys and I'll be sure to keep you updated!

Glad you're doing fine Ralph. For me boxer briefs worked best. Some snugness w/o being too much, and long enough that my penis doesn't hang out the pantleg. For nighttime the first few months I found satin boxers kept me from getting tangled up in covers or getting my undies in a bind.
I started walking on day 3. Just short walks in the backyard but tried to go longer as days passed. It might be 6 months before you feel like your old self again.
My doc tried to deflate me at 2 weeks. About had me on the ceiling it hurt so bad. Didn't get deflated until 5 1/2 weeks at my release check-up. Still hurt, but at least tolerable. I had sex the next night, that felt good until finished. Then all the soreness/pain hit. Hot bath for 30 minutes to calm down!
Every doc has their own routine for cycling, some at 2 weeks and some at 6 weeks. (and I'm sure everything in between) My doc never gave me that instruction, but from what most guys say that is the secret to regain your size.

congratulations on taking the big step Ralph!

Here on the forum, or a group of guys who both understand what you have gone through prior to the surgery, day of the surgery, and during your recovery. And every single one of us here is pulling for you. Best wishes for a great and speedy recovery! The reports of the last few days, from several different guys, have been overall very positive. I trust that you were going to be the next. Success story too!

Regarding sleeping, I wore absolutely nothing to bed. I was 60% inflated. as mentioned above, I found a pillow place between my knees very helpful. I’m a side sleeper. I did roll over on my stomach one night and fell asleep, that was the only time I woke up with anything resembling pain. That was on night number three I think and I took my one and only pain pill on that night. The rest of the time it was just Tylenol. And that, only for a few days.

Regarding cycling, Dr. seem to be all over the map. Yes, the info pubic guys seem to start cycling a bit earlier, and I think you mentioned that’s what you had. But just follow his advice regarding when to start.

Me, I was clear to begin cycling at six weeks. So I lived with a 60% chub during that time.

You asked about underwear. Granted, that chub gets a little old after a while. But, relative to your life span in the years, you have left with your new toy, this time. It’s just a blip on the horizon. Whatever the time frame until cycling, it will pass quickly enough.

Like you, it really bothered me to be so inactive for that period of time. I cannot lift more than 20 pounds for the first six weeks. it was humbling to ask the boy at the grocery store to deliver my groceries from the store into my car, but I humbled myself, and did that. I did explain to him that, although I look strong, I’ve had some surgery and could use the help. They were always cool about it.

I started walking at four weeks. Well, actually, I have been walking short distances around the house and running errands prior to that. But I’m week number four I started walking in earnest. At first, 1 mile a day nonstop.

About five days later, I increased to a mile and a half, and a couple of days after that started walking 1.5 miles twice daily. Total of 3 miles by the time I reach the six week point.

As I’ve written elsewhere, I think this vigorous walking is very good for recovery. I think it’s good to keep the scrotum and everybody who lives in there now “loosened up“.

That was the only exercise I did until I started cycling at six weeks.

At six weeks, the doctor gave me the go ahead to return to the gym, which I did.

I ran to the gym very very cautiously , exercising at a ridiculously light level. I would spend 20 minutes on the elliptical at the lowest setting, barely getting my heart rate up. Then I would transition to some weight lifting. A healthy Girl Scout could’ve lifted more weight than I was lifting in those first few days. I also avoided anything that would stress the core. Squats were absolutely out, for example. In fact, the first time I did anything core related was the seated leg press after I’ve been in the gym for maybe two weeks or so. And again, very light.

Over time I started increasing the intensity, and I would say at the 10 week point I’m up to about 80% of my previous work out regimen.

You are taking it day by day now. Pondering the mystery of this unfamiliar new penis of yours. We all know it feels a little alien at first. The swelling and bruising doesn’t help matters, and like all of us you’ll wonder “am I really going to return to normal?“.

You will brother. Hang in there.

I am 10+ weeks postop and happily using mine again, frequently twice daily!

and once you begin, actually using it for real sex, keep in mind that your first few attempts will not be the same as subsequent attempts as things STILL continue to improve in terms of Boat’s sensitivity of your penis as well as you adjusting to your “new normal“, in which the implant starts feeling genuinely like a part of you.

please excuse the errors in grammar and syntax in my post above. I am voice dictating and not proofreading, so I can see that I come across as someone that probably got a D in English composition class.

One final note regarding underwear.

I found that compression shorts were just absolutely too tight. The compression of the shorts, coupled with my pressurized self was pretty uncomfortable. So, when going out, I would first put a baby sock over the head of my dick to protect the glands. Then I would put it up and put on a comfortable pair of snug fitting cotton boxers. Then, I would put on a one size 2 large jockstrap over that. That holds the package nicely, and I was much more comfortable.
