I have what looks like an undissolved stitch, it's been 5 weeks since I was implanted with a sub-coronal incision with circumsision as part of the procedure.

Is this normal? My doctor and nurse are still on holiday, my next appt is on the 16th March.

Pic attached.

What I find surprising is the location of the incision...
It actually looks like a stitch. Sometimes they resist longer, but if the incision is well healed, nothing prevents the stitch from being removed manually by a nurse.

Thanks, that makes sense. I should have added that I had a sub-coronal incision and circumsision as part of the procedure.

That's what it looks like to me too.

I'd like to know how long a dissolving suture is supposed to take to dissolve?

I had penoscrotal with scrotal webbing removed and a lot of stiches that were dissolving. At least that was what was supposed to happen. At 8 weeks I still had 2 that I removed myself. Longer than 8 weeks and they need to be removed. At least that is what was posted in reply to my question on this site. Most likely part of the reason of your appointment is for this. Another thing that comes to mind is that for some reason at that location the doctor decided to put in a non-dissolving stich for some reason. Nothing to worry about as it happens to others and your doctor will notice and either remove it or tell you when to have it removed if it is not gone on it's own.

Your appointment is in less than a week. If it were me I would just wait until that appointment.

Thanks, your response makes a lot of sense and is very reassuring. You know how it is when you first get implanted, you start to freak out about everything.

I still have the remnant of a stich knot at the left end of my infrapubic scar sticking out, 7 wks post op, despite multiple efforts on my part to remove it.

I also have a short, knotted piece of suture sticking out.
I've given it a light tug a couple times, but it still feels attached.
I figure when it dissolves internally it will pull out easily.

I had the same as newbie, after 10 weeks all healed up i had two sutures sticking out and driving me nuts, so i checked it out closer and was able to take a pair of tweezers and remove them. they were dissolved inside and the ends were still there.
