Badly bruised-normal?

Postby Steve5231 » Mon Jan 23, 2023 5:44 pm

I was implanted last Thursday by Dr. Lavine in Chicago. Had to stay overnight because they inserted a drain. Now, 4 days later my testicles are swollen and badly bruised. Just wondering if this is normal and when I could expect the swelling to go down and the bruising to go away.

Thoughts?

I suspect you’re fine. Some guys bruise really badly. I did

My bruising was so bad that on a follow up visit I accused the surgeon of knocking me out with anesthesia, taking me out to the parking lot, and allowing the hospital staff to take turn running over my crotch area with a SUV. My bruising started to resolve about day 8.

Interestingly enough there was soreness, but no real pain. But I was definitely purplish black.

On a recommendation from the surgeon I am taking 2 Tylenol and 3 Motrin every 6 hours. I only took 1 norco for the 2 hour drive home by my wife. But the bruising and swelling concerns me. I guess I have to be patient. I really can’t wait to use this thing. It’s been a long haul.

Steve5231,
I too was bruised and swollen, and I had no drain after surgery. I've posted pics on FT showing how bad it was.
BUT... after 4-5 weeks post-surgery, things started to return to normal. All turned out good. Some folks just bruise more,

Steve,

Your body's reaction sounds completely norman to me, especially if you had the penal-scrotal approach, but even if you didn't your body has had some trauma and is just reacting normally. You will also find your scrotum will be shrunken up tight like getting out of a cold pool, that too is normal. Like stmfttr said, it will take about 4 weeks for it to cool down, don't worry about it unless you start running a fever.

Just remember, you can't rush the healing, it just takes time, but it is so worth it! You will love your new dick.

My scrotum was swollen to the size of a small grapefruit (regulation softball size) and virtually black over one half of its surface. My penis looked like a road-killed toad on a west Texas highway.

Others here have had less florid results.

Update 7 days post surgery. The swelling and bruising has decreased by about 50%. But now the head of the penis feels sore probably from the “pins” the surgeon used to pull the rods up.

Anyone else experience this?

Steve, Pretty common to have some soreness/pain in the glans following surgery. I think it is a result of having needles pushed through the head of your dick as well as the glans adjusting to the cylinder tips now taking up space. It will go away as you recover. I had a sharp pain in my glans when max inflated. It gradually resolved and now causes no pain.

Steve5231,
You are correct regarding the glans pain.
Just imagine how your nipples would feel if you got them pierced...OUCH!!!

I had my surgery on Tues 1/24/2023.

My balls where severely swollen and there was a lot of bruising around the base of my penis. The bruising and swelling has just started to diminsh 3 days after surgery.

My post-op instructions say that the swelling and bruising is normal and only to be concerned if the bruising extended beyond the pensi, scrotum or incision sites.

It hasn't in my case but, if it has for anyone else, that's a reason to contact your doc ASAP.
