Cycling Pain

Postby JetsFan1594 » Thu Jan 19, 2023 7:46 am

About two weeks out from surgery with Eid. Two questions

1: is it normal for pain to somewhat increase as you increase cycling? I noticed more sorenesss in my shaft even in a resting state now that I have tried ti cycle aggressively
2: a best question for eid patients since we are often the first to begin cycling so soon, but how long until cycling doesn’t hurt so much? Even getting to 100% inflation rn hurts like a bitch, let alone staying there for 30 min
28M, inadequate partial erections as far back as I can remember due to VL. Completely unresponsive to pills, disappointing response to Trimix. Stretch test 19cm. Implanted 1/6/23 24cm Coloplast Titan (Classic Model) by Dr Eid with .5cm RTE on left side

Jets, Yes, what you’re describing is all normal.
But in general, I get the sense that you are pushing it too hard too soon.

In all your discharge papers, you should have received a document titled:
Post Operative Inflating instructions. I would encourage you to re-read it for comprehension - especially paragraphs 7-9. Note some pain or discomfort is expected for at least the first 3 weeks of cycling and the intent is to work your way up gradually. 30 minutes hold time shouldn’t be on your radar at this point. I’m cycling 6 weeks now and still have some discomfort after 20-30 minutes all though it’s tolerable.

Everything you asked is covered in those instructions. If you can’t find your copy, call Dr. Eid’s office and I’m sure they can email another to you.

Everyone's different I have ams and should only be doing 15 minutes a day I think as 5 weeks post op but been cycling for 2 ish weeks now and am comfortable cycling 1hour twice a day.

Every journey is different as I said and people heal at different rates.

Was uncomfortable at first but not relatively painless

5 weeks was my magic point. Up until then I was like you - cycling twice daily and in so much pain I could hardly tolerate it. Also, I couldn't wear jeans, even deflated, as it was too painful.

It seemed like right about 5 weeks I could cycle without pain and even start using my VED without pain. I had difficulty sitting for long periods of time, and now things seem fine. Just like anything, everyone heals differently. Give it time. Don't push yourself to do more than you can handle. If you're worried about size loss, etc., most guys on here will tell you it takes between 6 months to a year to regain size. Even 5 weeks in I'm over an inch back from what I was post-op. Not back to my pre-op size, but getting there! Hang in there!

Appreciate this feedback man! Yeah it’s surprising, for as little swelling I have, it’s still pretty painful to inflate or deflate this thing. Also, a pretty steady level of “discomfort” that I wouldn’t say has gotten better since week 1 at all. Like a level 2/10 constant ache in the shaft. Oh well, we will play it by ear.

You're welcome! Yeah, looks like you're only ~3 weeks in by now. I was still in quite a bit of pain then. I remember getting cold sweats any time I'd even think about cycling. Things are great now. No pain whatsoever. In fact, it's taken me a week to reply to you because I've been at Disneyland. I rode everything, including Space Mountain and the Incredicoaster multiple times without issue. The 20th marked ~5 weeks for me, but everyone heals differently. Hoping things are going a little better for you by now! Oh, and I did not set off the metal detector at the airport or Disney. Lol.

I agree with all the other folks that have replied to your questions. Follow the doctors inflation protocol.

Like everyone that has responded to your post have said, everyone is different and heal differently. I still had a lot of pain in my shaft 2 and 3 months after surgery when inflating to max for 30 to 45 minutes. The pain for me started to decrease around the 4 month time frame at max inflation for an hour.
I had messaged several Frank Talk guys about the pain I was experiencing when fully inflated past 30 minutes and I got the same answers that all of us are different and it will get better.
I was concerned that when we got ready for sex I wanted to get inflated before hand so that I would be ready and not have to spoil the moment by interrupting and having to pump up.

I don't have any problems now with inflating to the max before sex and I usually don't go past an hour.

I do need to experiment now that I'm a year and two months from surgery if I could go way past an hour fully inflated without any discomfort.

Keep doing what the doc says and it will definitely get better.

Good luck with your Journey!
