Anything new in the implant world

Postby 1380anthony » Fri Dec 30, 2022 5:18 pm

Just came to ask if there's any new or improved versions of the current penile implant companies In the near future.

Im trying to hold a little bit longer and see if 2023 has something more durable or an implant pushes blood to your corpora cavernosum and then traps the blood without displaying it like the current ones. If nothing comes out then Ill probably go for implant since I do not want to give up my sexual life. My penile implant consultation will be on March 2023.

I read literally every post on FT. I have not seen any reference to anything new within the reasonable future.
My opinion, if something does come out, forget about getting it. First generations of almost any new product is loaded with bugs & defects. It will take a few years before surgeons move to the new product. They're familar & comfortable with whats out there now. Change can lead to them having trouble, they don't like that.
Then comes the insurance trouble. New stuff will come at a new & higher price. Insurance will refuse a product that will increase their costs. Systems like NHS will have the same attitudes. Geez, they can't even justify paying nurses a good wage.
Lots of men will be getting the current implants for many years after a new implant comes out. My suggestion is to just prepare yourself mentally for whats available now.
Good luck with your ED.

Agree with Gt1956. Nothing new in the near future unless they are keeping it a big secret.
There is talk about a unit in the future with the pump and reservoir together placed in the abdomen. That eliminates the pump in the scrotum. It would be controlled via an app or key fob remote. It could be many years before that comes to be and docs use them. Do it now if you need one.
Good luck.

This is the one I was thinking about, the Bluetooth operated one. The other one is from Implantica called PotencyFlow. There's a guy here the met the urologist that had access to the battery/ Bluetooth prosthesis by Boston Scientific l, he even posted something about it

I wouldn't say Gt1956 is wrong but I want to say I think it's not entirely 100% relevant. Implants have a pretty long history now, and I doubt new models are like what they used to be back in the '70s or '80s. I don't know this or anything, just my opinion that it's kinda an us living in the future of medical technology type thing, at least to some degree.

One thing I can share is I was in a research study where I had a Zoom meeting to discuss a new device that was enabled by Bluetooth. I wasn't told what company it was or when it would come out, but the device does look good. Definitely would be nice to not even have to pump it anymore. We went over how the app would work, how you can time it or schedule it, etc. etc. I can confirm what Old Guy said, the pump and reservoir together placed in the abdomen. Also someone here on FrankTalk who seemed to know what he was talking about shared how he learned talking to 3 implanters that AMS will be Bluetooth enabled in less than 5 years from now, but Coloplast won't.

Also I think a pretty sweet new thing in the implant world is that I believe there's more than sufficient medical research and personal experiences of regaining or even gaining more size, that the prior number #1 patient complaint of losing dick size with implants should no longer be a concern.

If they approve a Bluetooth implant before I'm dead I'm going to have to look at a revision. LOL
Not that the pump in my sack hurts, nor does it hurt to pump it up, but the convenience of Bluetooth inflation would be wonderful. Definitely have to load the app on wife's phone!
I also think that change could make some guys change their mind about getting implanted.
As far as today's implants I think little has changed since they were introduced. Maybe a bit tougher and some kinks worked out, but pretty much the same.

Good luck.

Moving the pump out of the scrotum sounds interesting at first glance. It seems less trauma would be done to the genital area. But there would still need to be access in the area in order to measure & insert the cylinders. You could argue that hiding an implant could be easier. I'm not sure how many men that need an implant consider the chance of having a visible pump is a deal breaker for surgery.
I personally am not convinced that a blue tooth pump is of a huge benefit. Who determines at what pumping level that the pump shuts off? Aggressive pumping is critical to regaining lost length. Would we lose the chance at regaining length? Battery recharging seems to be a big potential problem. Seems lots of guys are really concerned about revisions now. More electronic componets just seems to mean more potential things to fail.
In my opinion, I'm still leery of these so called improvements & their effects to cost & reliability.

I'm sure the pump on a Bluetooth unit would have set parameters for inflation, set by the doctor. Charging wouldn't be much of an issue, just a cordless magnetic charger. Hook it on while you're sitting watching TV.
On the other hand, yes, I'd be nervous being one of the first ones to get implanted with a Bluetooth device. Me and new electronic devices seem to not agree.

More stuff to break, batteries etc… Not sure its better long term reliability.
1967 model. Looking for futur options. Using Cialis or Viagra with Good/mix results with the bad side effects.
