So I've watched all the youtube videos of actual implant surgery, with my legs crossed and clenching. (yikes)
A question I have is does the surgeon inject you with a trimix or something to make you erect prior to his/her measurement? It seems the penises I have seen in the videos seem to be at some stage of erection when surgery starts, but the confusing thing is when the surgeon cuts open the cavernosa to insert the measuring device, wouldn't that be full of blood due to the erection? I'm impressed by how little blood is involved in the surgery, so this isn't making sense to me.
Also, IF a trimix injection part of the process, having never had an injection of any type down there, does the surgeon just make an educated guess as to the type and amount of injection?
Thanks gents, rookie questions.

Re: question about sizing during surgery
I believe they use saline to engorge the shaft.
I couldn't watch a complete implant video before my implant. When the doc got to the second or third incision with all the clamps pulling the skin of the penis apart, I started getting nauseous. Twice. Thought about not going through with the surgery. The sad part is I'm a retired therapist. I've been in the surgery room standing next to the surgeon many times and never had an issue. I guess when you imagine that happening to you it's different.

Watch a perito video. He describes it all step by step. They use a needle but with a large syringe and press all the saline/ antibiotic they can into cavernous forcing a full erection.

While many surgeons do induce an erection on the operating table, many also do not bother. The measuring tool stretches the tunica quite well, as can be seen in the videos.

Lost Sheep is correct. Doctors differ a lot in doing this surgery. Many use only one brand of device. Many use only one type of approach (infrapubic or penoscrotol). Wait time for activation (beginning cycling) are from 3 days to 8 weeks. And on and on.
There were some threads some years back that had information that the man should receive a medication that relaxes the tissue in the penis under general anesthesia. Some had questioned some doctors doing this resulting in improper sizing. Under spinal block surgery the drug was said not to be needed. The tissue relaxes with the anesthesia. And some men were requesting that form of anesthesia to insure proper sizing.
That question is one to ask the doctor or doctors you are considering for this surgery.
Good luck going forward with this.
