My Journal...40 yrs old...surgery by Dr. Eid - 03 Feb 2023

Hello FT Members,

I posted about my story sometime back. In case any one is interested they can read it here https://www.franktalk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20496&p=189515#p189386-

I am 40 yrs old from India but living in USA now. I have struggled with ED all my life and could not get a treatment which worked. I have tried pills, injections and PRP. My wife left me 1 day before my 40th birthday and that is when I told myself that come what may I will fix my issue.

I met Dr. Eid in NYC on 26-Sep-2022 and he conducted a penile doppler test and confirmed to me that my issue is organic and that I am a candidate for an implant. He measured my penis to be 13.5 cms long and said my girth is on higher side so he suggested me to get a Coloplast titan with the classic pump. I honestly left the choice and judgment in his hands. He also said I have mild peyronies disease which he said will get much better after the surgery.

My medical clearance took a long time as the doctor to whom I went (he was my own choice) made me go through a battery of tests and had me see a vascular surgeon, endocrinologist & another urologist. Even after all this he refused to clear me and actually passed personal remarks like 'no girl will make a relation with you after she knows you have an implant'
So finally i contacted Dr. Eid and got my clearance from a doctor he recommended at Mt. Sinai hospital.

Now I am finally scheduled for a surgery date of 03-Feb-2023. I was offered an earlier date but I chose this due to logistical issues. I have insurance from Blue Shield of California and my total out of pocket should not be more than 2000$. I am still not sure if insurance has approved my surgery but I assume that since I have a date, it has been approved.

I have been reading many stories here on FT and I wish to contribute my own. Hopefully it will help someone. I have suffered for a long time with anxiety, nervousness, depression, lack of social life which comes as a side affect of ED. I am determined to not just treat my ED but also my mental state for which I am also trying meditation. But I feel the real improvement in mental health will come after I finish my surgery and recovery.

If anyone here has any questions for me, feel free to PM me. I would like to help any person who suffers from ED in any way I can.

Regards,
Atul

Good Luck on your surgery! I'm sure after you heal things will only change for the better.
As for that doctor who said no female will want relations with you when you're implanted should have his license taken away. Or get his penis whacked one good time! Thousands of implanted males are making thousands of females happy, every day, for as long as they want to.

My company changed my insurance provider starting 01-Jan-2023.
I was just informed by Dr. Eid's office that the new insurance Anthem Blue Cross PPO needs a prior authorization. It seems the earlier insurance I had (Blue Shield California) did not need a prior authorization for the surgery.

Do you guys know if the authorization is given easily or it gets rejected as well? The office of Dr. Eid wrote- "I sent out the clinical documentation for prior authorization. I will keep you posted once they send me the outcome but as far as the procedure codes and diagnosis they are all valid and billable and I was told they do not fall on any exclusions."

Does this mean I am going to be ok? I am a bit nervous about this.

Sounds like you're going to be just fine. It's those "exclusions" that will steal your dream. Sounds like he's saying that his preliminary look into your insurance does not list your procedure as an exclusion. I know about these well. The health insurance i have through my employer and supplemental medical insurance i have through my union BOTH had exclusions precisely mentioning "prosthetic penile implants". This was maddening as I've paid my premiums to this company for 32 years. However, I was not willing to wait until Medicare set in (I'm 63) and wanted to get started right away. So, I am officially 9 days post implant, and it couldn't be going any better. Paid for out of pocket. :x

Read your post, and am wishing you the best! Agree with the other posts. That doctor who told you women wouldn't find you desirable is a bonafide FOOL! Read the many success stories of happy guys and their happy ladies (or gents, depending on the person).

I feel sure you will be OK. if anyone knows how to get insurance approval it would be Eid and his team. I would add that from my personal experience with him, my healing was nearly instantaneous. With his vast experience, you couldn't be in better hands! Keep us posted on your journey out of ED and into a wonderful new sex life!

My ortho's office did all the work to get approval, but I did get a call from insurance. Sounded like she was trying to talk me out of going through with it. Unless there is a specific exclusion in the policy you should be good. Even if there is an exclusion an appeal sometimes makes them bend the rules. Good Luck!
