Can’t climax

Postby Quester » Tue Nov 29, 2022 10:41 am

As the title says and this has been kind of building over the past 9 months or so.

I just had my 3 year check up. Normally I just have a phone call, but this year I went in to the clinic to discuss this with them.

I often don’t feel like having any kind of sex play, gained back some of the weight I lost over the past 3 years I’ve had the implant. When we do play or even my solo play I almost get there then nothing I start over but after a while either my wife or myself get tired and we stop. She feels something is missing if I don’t cum and I feel frustrated.

I told him I run through those online low T questions and I have most of the symptoms of it. Several years ago they put me on T as the doctor said there’s low and low for you. But the VA when there was the whole increase of prostate cancer and testosterone took me off it as my T was in the normal range.

The at the clinic they placed an order for PSA, testosterone, and thyroid blood work check and said they will try but at my VA the urology clinic can’t do it anymore only my primary care or maybe endocrinology.

He then did the most comprehensive examination I’ve had in a long time. Most of the time in my primary care clinic annual physical the doctor asks several questions, then listens to heart and lungs reviews my meds and sends me on my way.

So I don’t really remember my last PSA check, or prostate exam. I’m not on blood pressure meds, or any medication for prostate issues intact the doctor told me my prostate felt fine no issues and my prostate seemed smaller than average for a man of my age I’m 60 so not sure about that means.

My question to the implant brotherhood is should I do next? My next appointment with primary care is in about a month. I get all my care at VA so I don’t have outside insurance.

I guess I could really use some support from you all

Hi Quester,

I know how frustrating that is, both for you and your partner, it has happened to me a few times even before I had ED and it is not good. I am newly implanted compared to you at 10 weeks and luckily so far, I don't have that problem.

I think the glans is very important in orgasm, I seem to have pretty good engorgement so far and it is improving, but at my last checkup I asked if there is anything that can help engorgement if I need it and I was told there is an ointment you can rub on your glans sometime before intercourse which engorges the glans.

You didn't mention anything about your glans engorgement, but that is the first place I would look if I had the problem.

You also mentioned you have gained the weight back you previously lost, this might indicate you are not getting enough exercise and may be eating too much or in an unhealthy way. I'm sure it would help you to get back in good condition. Having good sex is an athletic event and the better shape you are in the better you can perform.

Best of luck and let us know what you find out.

Quester, I know that most retirees like the VA health system. But I've known several that ran into problems with care for their spouse during retiement. I would suggest that being eligible to get into the FEHB system that at your age you should join. Pick a very basic plan. All you need is to be a member for I belive 3 years pior to retiement. This gives you access to all of the plans in FEHB in your retirement.
We know of 2 women, spouses of retired members that both got cancer. Their cancer treament didn't seem to be very good. It is open season now.
I've searched Goodrx for the non insurance cost of testosterone. It isn't very expensive.

Thanks, but as a former Federal Employee I’m not eligible for FEHB, now that I’m retired I should have thought of that before I did. I can do Tri-Care which is what I did.

As for my T tests I got the Urologist to order them.
Total T is 243
Free T is low at 2.3
My PSA is 0.63 (not bad for a guy 60)

I appreciate the comments, I guess I was more nervous given my history things are better on the climax side

The threads I have seen in the implant section dealt with lack of orgasm just after surgery and most improve over the first year or 2. So not going to be a solution for you. You might have more luck in another section of this forum. There is a section for slow orgasm just go to the board index and it is down the list a bit. Hope you can find some help over there.

All good suggestions. Agree that glands engorgement can help. The ointment that your doc suggested might be Nitro Bid. Check me if I’m wrong, brothers, it’s the only substance I am aware of that is applied topically to the glans.
I have tried it with some success, but its side effects scared me off. After all, it’s nitroglycerin and, for me, gave me heart palpitations.
On the other hand, I am having great success engorging with Trimix gel injected into the urethra but it is very pricey.
Then of course there is the VED/ring combo which many of the guys use and report great success. One of the brothers and I compared photos of engorgement — me using the gel and him using VED — he edged me out, and his was at nearly zero cost.
Anyhow, good luck to you.
