Additional procedure at the same time

Postby 68CatFan » Sun Nov 27, 2022 12:01 pm

Anybody else have an orchiectomy or any other procedure at the same time as the penile implant surgery? I have chronic testicular pain on the right side and figure it would be smarter and safer to have both my ED and the pain taken care of in one surgery. I'd rather not have another surgery 6 months or a year later after my scrotum is all healed up to address the pain. My surgeon says an orchiectomy at the same time doesn't increase the risk of infection. I'm guessing because you can use the same incision and will be saturated from head to toe in antibiotics. Thanks -Cat
Fifty-one years old. ED started at age forty. I took Cialis for eight years and used Trimix for almost three. Implanted 12/6/22 by Dr. Jonathan Clavell. AMS 700CX 21cm.

Dr. knows best, and 2nd Dr. is good to hear from.

I had scrotal webbing removed. This was minor increase in time of surgery. But increased surgery time does increase risk of infection. The longer you are open the longer the tissue is exposed to air borne pathogens. But if you have both done at the same time you actually will be opened up less time. Many have had scrotal webbing or circumcision done with implant. Or even an artificial urinary sphincter. One opening, closing, anesthesia. Less chance of infection than 2 separate surgeries.

Good luck.
