"this system is a scam" Exactly what part of the system is a scam?

Projecting from scany statistics is fraught with error. AMS/Boston Scientific, who makes the implants has about 70% of the U.S. market share. Add in Coloplast and you are now at more than 50,000 per year with an average service life of about (reliably reported) 10 years (though I do not know how to estimate the men who die with their implants still functional, which would affect the service life statistic).

By the way (to GT1956), I do not know of any significan number of men who only get one implant tube implanted. They are usually done as a pair. Just like shoes.

I expect high-volume imlanters could do a lot more than 500 a year. Say a surgeon does surgeries 3 times a week. An implant surgery can be done in less than an hour, so let's say 2 hours to get the patient in and out of the surgical suite (remember, pre and post-op work is most often done by members of the surgical team without the surgeons participation). That is 15 a week. 50 weeks a year (surgeons need vacations on the yachts these surgeries pay for) 750 implants a year.

But like I said, projecting with sparse statistics is iffy. Sam Clemens said,
Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

To Lostsheep. My comment was to merely see if the implant manufacturers counted in singles or pairs. While I do agree that they are used in pairs that does not mean they count in pairs. Also, as for a single. We've seen comments where a surgeon for some reason or other has discarded a single implant during surgery. That act would in essence ruin a pair. So I'm thinking they might count in singles which could cut the 35,000 in half for the number of men implanted.
We don't have the privilege of truly seeing behind the curtain.

Did anyone's failure have to do with the OTR (One Touch Release) version? Heard the older genesis 2-button deflation is more reliable in the longrun?

Maybe. It's all about making money and invest less

hello lost sheep, I find it very difficult to believe how a company that produces systems which, despite having invested a lot of money in research, but many years ago now, has certainly returned its investment for a long time now, claims that its system has a at least 10 years old, this plant has a cost of materials for them no more than 100 euros, by now they have returned and earned a lot of money from their investment made many years ago, how is it possible that ams knowing that his plant lasts at least 10 years, from a guarantee of only 5 in Italy? after all, they pay for the device itself at least 70/100 times more than its production cost, if you lower the guarantee it means that you don't trust your implant and its duration either, the implantologists tell you that the manufacturing company reports that the implant has a duration of at least 10 years and that in case of breakage within 5 the company replaces the broken piece or the implant, only the procedure that costs more than the piece of silicone remains to be paid, in case of breakage at 5 and a half years it's bitter shit for the patient, everything has to be repaid, it is clear that this is a very partial guarantee, these conditions are clearly unbalanced in favor of the surgeon and the manufacturer, and if the patient weren't caught with a knife in the throat of his unsustainable condition he would never accept such conditions, this is a substantial reason why few plants are made compared to the real need, many people resist until the fuck still gives some sign of life because c i are many dark things

High volume is nowhere near 500 per year. You think these docs work 5 days a week and do 3 a day? That is absolute fantasy land

High volume is basically an opinion. If I remember correctly. My doctor operates 1 day a week & sees patients 1 day a week. He works through a local clinic network where I see him. But he also does urology for the local VA hospital. So I guess that you could deduce that he operates 2 days a week. But I'm sure that he does other work than implants. In my opinion by the time you factor in all the other duties he does & seminars he attends. He is a pretty busy guy.
I just had my yearly cardiology checkup. I saw a PA for the office visit. A technician for the ultrasound. Was told that the PA will call with the results. I know that there are several cardiologists at this practice. The point is that in a well run practice a lot of the office type work can be done by lower level medical people. I think that a couple of the really high volume implanters likely follow something like this business model. Basically an assembly line for the non critical tasks.

Craig,

My doctor said the same thing about the One Touch, he said the OT valve can get “sticky” and installed the early style valve which he felt is more reliable.
Used Viagra & Cialis until lost vision in one eye due to AION, therefore can never use pills again, then tri-mix 1 1/2 years until unreliable. Implanted 9/20/22 at 77 years old by Dr. Yafi, UC Irvine. Married 55 years wife 76. 20cm Coloplast Titan.
