Implant quit working

Postby woodturner » Mon Oct 10, 2022 6:24 pm

Yesterday (Sunday) my implant would not pump. The pump bulb after just a few squeezes would stay flat. I gave it another try this morning and I can hear
some of the liquid gurgling in a way I have never heard before. I am reasonably certain I have a leak and I will need a replacement.
I have already made an appointment with a Dr Hotaling in Salt Lace City. I was lucky, I will be seeing him 4 days after the implant quit working.
I would have the original surgeon fix it. However it was done by Dr. Aaron Lentz in North Carolina almost 8 years ago. I now live in Idaho about 2-1/2 hours from
Salt Lake City.

Questions: Has anybody reading this ever had a replacement surgery? If so how did it go compared to the original surgery. Is a replacement surgery tougher of easier? Any input would be appreciated.

I had the same gurgling flat bulb failure. I can say the 2nd surgery is about 50% as difficult as the first for me. My issue has been that I lost 1/2 inch on first implant and 1 inch on second. This even with a device upsized by 2 cm. Good luck with your revision.

My Titan quit after 12 years of no use. No gurgling, and no movement of fluid at all.

You weren't able to recover the 1/2 inch with cycling? Do you think the 1 inch loss is cause you had to wait a few months for revision surgery?
