Medicare with Humana

Postby Forever_Young » Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:17 pm

I hd my procedure done in March 2022. It is now late August. I have seen where my doctors, (surgeon, Anesthesia, and Pathology and the hospital( billed Medicare and Humana) I paid the Hospital $250 up front. I have not received the first bill from the doctors, Anesthesia or Pathology and it has been 4 weeks

Be very cautious and aware. Over a year after my surgery, I got slammed with a $1,500 hospital bill. I spent about 4 months fighting it. My Medicare supplemental had paid off a lot of $ but had no record of the bills the hospital was trying to collect on. I repeatedly tried to get them to bill United, United even tried to get them to send them, but it never happened, and the hospital sent me to collections. I finally gave up and paid the bill.

Medicare advantage will pay everything except the co payment if you are an out patient. But if you have to spend the night at the hospital the insurance will pay 100%.

I have Humana advantage and it has been a very good insurance.

Blue Cross plan G covered it all for me. I spent one night in the hospital.

They had my co-pay estimated before my surgery, $3.200 plus $500 for surgeon. I had to pay up front the morning of. They billed my United Health Care, I never saw a bill. About 3 months later docs office sent me a $569 check for overpayment. I was told IF I had Medicare Part B my cost would have been zero.
