Even with the top surgeons the chance of infection for us young guys is almost 10%

You can use the equation used in this quora post to calculate the odds of infection over your lifetime. https://www.quora.com/How-would-one-calculate-the-probability-of-the-occurrence-of-an-event-over-multiple-attempts-1-chance-over-10-tries

To determine the odds of infection depending on how young you are and average number of years your device lasts.

Infection rate for the top surgeons is .9% on revisions. Plug that into that equation and the infection odds over your lifetime will be between 5-10%

I ran the calculation assuming that I will live to 80.

Makes me want to die honestly.

Wish I would have ran this equation before getting my implant. Might have influenced my decision honestly.

The outcomes for infection cases right now are devastating, almost always resulting in significant size loss.

No, that’s not how probabilities work.

0.9% chance of infection will applied every time you have a revision.

The probability doesn’t “remember” what you did before.

Must be the new math they started teaching kids in the 90s. You're reasoning is heavily flawed bud. Your chance on infection doesn't "stack" over time. Also keep in mind that improvements both on the devices and the surgery techniques will decrease the infection rate even more in the future. Thus, your chance of infection by time you need a fourth revision might be even lower than .9%.

Pretty sure you are both wrong.

This equation calculates the odds of 1 event occurring (infection) within a series of events (surgeries) attempting to make that event occur.

This is what is needed to calculate the odds of an infection occurring over multiple procedures when both infection rate is known and number of procedures.

If I get an infection I will 100% regret it.

I am very torn right now, maybe I need someone to shove a xanax in me but the anxiety of having a ticking time bomb in me is terrifying. Hard to build a life around.

Indeed those responses are as wrong as they are self-confident. Not only did OP use the exact formula (multiplying the survival probabilities). But even if OP just added the failure probabilities that’s still a good approximation (to first order) when their sum is small.

By the way don’t worry too much darkflame. I think you’ll be fine for decades to come.

So you've done all this high math based on an internet search formula. Now you're scared. You do understand the odds of ending up with a totally limp dick if you didn't address your ED. I'm guessing that it must of been in the vicinity of 100% or you couldn't of gotten an implant.
My non professional opinion is that now that you have an implant. Please seek treatment for anxiety. Your scaring the other young members while you get to use your implant. Seems a bit two sided from my vantage point.

Idk I think infection risk is really understated. The solutions for it are unclear. I've read posts on here where guys aren't even using VED while they have an implant in. Opinions from doctors are all over the place. There are studies showing 85% reinstalling a 3 piece as soon as the first one is removed, and yet almost no high volume doctors do this.

I'm sure there is a path forward with this that would allow one to go through infection without size loss. Maybe with the use of antifibrotics like potaba and pentox.

But there is no guidance on any of this. The current prescription if you get an infection is that you are basically f'ed.

And god forbid a surgeon actually make a viable lengthening procedure if something were to go wrong. FTM trans implantees can get a whole penis made, but an extra inch for me incase of an infection is beyond the capabilities of science. We can fly people to the moon but an inch of flesh is asking for a whole lot apparently. I don't even care if the nerve bundle has to be severed and I can't feel much, its more of a utility and societal integration thing for me at this point.

When the ticking gets so loud that it interferes with your sex life (which you would NOT HAVE HAD WITHOUT THE IMPLANT) then consider not replacing a failed implant.

Look at it this way. Suppose no revisions were possible at all and an implant would let you have good sex for 10 years, period.

Would you rather have those 10 years in your 30s or in your 70s?
