Avoiding lost length after an infection?

For those gentlemen who had an infection following the implant procedure did you lose length once you had the replacement implant inserted? I thought I read somewhere that if you aggressively use a VED after removal until the new implant is put in you won't lose any length. Can anyone confirm this or share your experience or what you've read? Thanks.

We had a moderator named Larry who had infection and did not use the Ved while healing and afterwards when re-implanted lost an inch and using Ved afterwards never regained it.
