I had cigna last year they declined it( maybe its because its a named exclusion from my company) but then again I switched to Aetna this year and they approved it.. So I guess Cigna doesnt approve Implant ( even if proper reasons are provided)..

It just depends on the plan you have with Cigna? Look for an EOB (Explanation of Benefits), as that will tell you if its covered, and any exclusions.

If you have company-provided insurance, coverage depends on the contract between the company and the insurer. So Insurance X might cover an implant for an employee of Company A but not for an employee of Company B.

See if you can go to Cigna's web site and log in with your policy/id number. Then look to see if they have your policy listed that you can down load. Then this will take some time looking. First look for a section that has exclusions. This is what I did for my BCBS policy. It did have coverage but it took some time reading to find it.

Good luck.

I had Cigna at one time with a previous employer. I fought them for 3 years to approve an implant only to find out there was an exclusion by my employer in the plan. Nothing I tried worked. Many appeals and even a letter from my doctor saying it was medically necessary. I have Blue cross now and they approved it immediately.

I had United Health Care. They asked for proof of what has failed, and the doctors report of my venous leak. A couple of requests from my doc and they did pay 80%.

I have Cigna and tried without success. I had peyronie's and thought that would help my case, but ultimately found that it was excluded by my employer. Ended up paying out of pocket and it was money well spent.
