Terrible Implant Experience So Far

Postby bullockn91@gmail.com » Sat May 28, 2022 5:34 am

Hello again,

I was implanted on April 15th, 2022 with a Coloplast Titan with 16 CM cylinders and no rear tip extenders.

Everything was healing well until one day when I used the bathroom. When finished, I noticed lots of bleeding and subsequently returned to my doctor several times to determine the problem. Initially, the doctor did not know what to do so suggested hydrogen peroxide along with an antibiotic and pads. At one appointment, he mentioned that I had a hematoma, which he said was not uncommon. He proceeded to squeeze it to drain some of the blood out; this was at 5 weeks post surgery. Since I could not cycle the device, he inflated me to around 50% to avoid scar tissue from forming. Recently I returned as the bleeding had not ceased and was told I had an infection warranting device removal. It's pretty fascinating I got an infection because I'm not a diabetic, don't smoke, and rarely drink alcohol. Additionally, I followed all instructions and washed my hands often.

He explained that I would need to receive a semirigid device, which I am not wild about. For one, only about 10% of implants of this type are even used in the United States, they have a lower success rage (80% compared to an IPP of 95%). Also, the erection is not as firm, this implant does not simulate a natural erection as the rods do not expand, and it is rigid all the time which does not seem the most comfortable. I have also read that reimplantation carries a 10 to 18% infection rate.
I guess I don't understand why an inflatable can't be put back in? It also seems that I will most definitely lose length as the rods have to be trimmed to avoid erosion. I am not happy about this and am wondering anyone else's experiences with semirigids or infections in general.
Thanks

I was told by some other people that an inflatable can eventually be put back in, but I really don't want three surgeriesof this type. I also don't know if I can trust my suregon.

bullock are you sure you can trust this doctor? are you a high volume implantologist? could you say her name wouldn't it be better to ask a high volume implantologist for another opinion?

Sorry to hear that you have problems with your implant.
I think the malleable has to be put in on a temporarily basis to keep the penis from shrinking. Eventually, you should be good to have a 3-piece implant again. I am not sure what your doctor's approach or understanding is.
There are a few members on this forum who went through the same. As Frank66665 mentioned, you should get a second opinion. Dealing with revisions, is not an easy task that any implant surgeon can perform.

Hello,

Actually,

I have been on three antibiotics since the surgery.

As far as I understand it, my insurance will not allow me to get an opinion from someone out of state. Where I live, we have a urology vontlomerate practice.

Bullock, yes, please fill in your signature block and keep us updated.

Anyway, what AST said is correct because I went through it. 3 surgeries in less than a year.
The initial surgery went well, but after a while (all of this is in my Journal), I could not even pump. It was not until 4 months later where it was determined that my 3 piece had to come out. Dr. Kramer put in the Malleable to 'hold' things in place so it will not collapse, then it was up to me to have another 3 piece put in. Dr. Sklar put in the other 3-piece. I lost length, maintained girth, but can fuck without fail, lol.
I, too, am just suffering from ED. No other complications, so in theory, surgery should have gone well. But seems there are a few that are just lucky enough to get infected.
I was put on anti-biotics too, but was allergic to sulfate. Had to bite the bullet and get the damn thing out. Malleable was put in, but it pissed me off to no end because the healing process of the malleable, although short, was enough that the rubbing was driving me crazy (implant too small).

Hi Bullock, I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble with your surgery. Honestly, the part that strikes me as strange is that when you first had the bleeding and went to your surgeon they did not immediately know what was causing the bleeding… I would be very careful proceeding and I’m not saying anything bad about your surgeon because I don’t know whom he or she is. Even though the high volume implant surgeons quote a one percent or less of infection rate an infection can happen to anyone at any time. I don’t know if your insurance allows a second opinion but before I would allow your first surgeon to do all of the surgeries I would go for a second opinion from a well-known high-volume implant surgeon! The surgeries are painful and in very sensitive areas and the less the better… I would get a second opinion even if I have to self-pay… If you’re able… By removing and then taking it out and then having the inflatable put back… I’m not sure if they can just take the first implant out and leave you empty while you heal and then put a second implant or if you must have a malleable … But to me it certainly warrants a second opinion… But I’m very cautious even though I can make mistakes too with my surgeons and doctors and what they do to me… Wishing you the best and no more complications and a quick and painless recovery! Good luck!
