What to expect?

Postby Scott61 » Fri May 27, 2022 9:03 am

I'm scheduled for surgery on June 16th. Dr. Christine in Birmingham, AL, is going to use a Coloplast, and the penoscrotal method. I expect to have pain during recovery and I'm not worried about that at all, assuming there won't be any complications, and there shouldn't be. I had my prostate removed two years ago and have been using the VED daily since then for rehab.

1. What are you most disappointed with?
2. How does it look compared to your natural erection?
3. Can you inflate it with one hand while making out with your wife/girlfriend? While laying on top of her?
4. What % of inflation does your wife/girlfriend prefer? What % do you prefer?
5. Does it get cold, or does it feel natural?
6. Any loss or gain of length or girth?
7. How does it feel inflated compared to a natural erection?
8. How long does it take to inflate for sex?
9. Is there a delay between each possible squeeze of the pump?
10. Have you had any problem riding a bike long distances, or even short distances?
11. Any problems with physical fitness activities? Running, riding, swimming, lifting weights?
12. Other than the ability to have an erection anytime for as long as you like, what else do you like about it?
13. Are there any changes in sensitivity?
14. Do you have any opinions on Dr. Christine?
15. What else do I need to know that I haven't thought of????

I realize that what I'm going to say isn't a true answer to your question. I honestly think that the answer to quite a few of those question would be better heard from your doctor. At least with him you could have some follow up dialog to expand his answer if you desire. I'll throw my observations at you. Most members have commented on your question.
1 Not getting it done sooner.
2 Every single pic I've seen looks exactly like an erect dick should. Men vary just like women.
3 Some can, some can't. Practice over time is required.
4 Many women like less than max. I think your orgasm might be easier at less than max.
5 Prior cancer might affect the temp. Too much pressure might be unnaturally hard.
6 That varies, cancer, peyronies, bad memory, fibrous tissure or inexperienced doc.
7
8 Most report less than 1 minute after healing & practice. Pumps can be spread out during foreplay.
9 Most effective pumps need the bulb to refill completely before the next squeeze.
10 Several members ride m/c's, bicycles & atv's. Bikes may need a seat style change for long rides.
11
12 Most report liking the increased flacid length & self confidence boost.
13
14 I've read several good posts. Remember, not every surgery goes according to plans. Revisions are a possibility if that happens. Also, big warning. Due to swelling & penile trauma retraction, most men are not thrilled at first. Give your body several months or healing & steady cycling according to docs instructions before you do any measuring to make a final decision.
Good luck, I think you're in decent hands.

Well stated!

Good luck with your upcoming procedure.

Take heed and follow orders to the letter of the law. Do not get anxious and try to use your new toy too soon! Recovery is as important as the decision to seek implant.

Thanks Guys! I’m still in the “scared shitless” mode, but I know I have no choice but to go through with it, so I will. I just hope I don’t feel like I’ve been castrated afterwards.

I will fill in the blanks of 7-11-13 and 15 not answered by the previous poster.

7. It does not feel completely natural, as you will no longer be natural. You will be able to feel some “crinkles” in the tubes when fully deflated. I usually keep 2-3 pumps in mine to avoid this. You can pump to different levels to have intercourse, there is no full on or full off. About 3/4’s fully inflated probably feels the most like a natural erection. After a few months of cycling and building my stretch tolerance and size back up, 100% pumped I could drill holes in the sheetrock of the bedroom wall, it is unnaturally hard, but it works really well if your partner can take that.

11. I had no problems getting back into the gym after about 7-8 weeks. I took it easy the first few weeks as I could still feel some pressure and pain where the reservoir was inserted. But now at 4 months I am even comfortable doing squats and abdominal exercises. I also have no problems running, although I only run 2-3 miles a couple times a week just to keep some level of fitness, I am not training for marathons.

13. I was able to have an orgasm at my first attempt at sex at a little over 4 weeks, the sex was painful but I was still able to orgasm. From what I have read some guys experience some sensation loss at first, but gain it back over a few months.

15. For me I never expected the psychological difference. After years of poor performance and at times avoiding sex because I was never sure if it was going to work, now I know I can have sex anytime I want, for as long as I want. This certainly puts some swagger in your step. Also with my Titan, even flaccid, you can be proud of what you have. I have about 6.5 - 7’ kind of hanging there at all times. Some guys might not like that, but I am very OK with it and don’t mind the advertisement of an above average bulge. During sex I can concentrate on what my partner needs because it is hard and is going to stay hard, no need to worry about it. Once you get past the surgery and recovery, I have not heard many guys dissatisfied.
Age 54, venous leak and some scarring, tried daily/occasional Cialis for awhile then a few months various doses of tri/quad mix. Either helped and would produce 50-60%.erections, but never really full. Implanted 1/20/22 26cm” Titan- Dr. Hakky

I really liked Dr Christine, but we could not get together on schedule. That being said, I had Dr Baumgarten at Uab do mine and I couldn't be happier. I love my new tool!

I’m wondering if anyone’s wife or girlfriend doesn’t think it feels natural? Maybe cold or something else?

My wife likes it a lot, although not often enough.
I know you have a lot of questions, but if you read more of the posts here on FT you'll find answers. Just remember, we all heal differently. Don't be nervous, ask your doc anything because he's heard it all before.

1. I'm very happy with my implant. It's immeasurably better than what I was living with before it.

2. It looks fine. My dick is a little straighter now. When I'm inflated and not aroused, it's a slight bit flatter, but when I get excited, I fill out more around.

3. I can now because the pump has gotten more flexible. It stays pretty hard for months, so you may not be able to pump up easily during foreplay for a while.

4. We both like it fully inflated.

5. No, it doesn't get cold.

6. No loss of size when inflated. And now I'm a shower, not a grower when deflated, which is cool.

7. It feels like a natural hard on.

8. It takes me around a minute to inflate.

9. I don't understand this question.

10. Other guys have said bicycling is fine--they talk about a new seat. I don't dare to bicycle for worry about how it will affect the tubing.

11. All other physical activity is fine. You will have restrictions at first and have to be given the okay to resume strenuous activities.

12. It's really changed my overall mood and confidence level. I now flirt confidently with other women sometimes. It's immensely improved my relationship with my wife.

13. My sensitivity is the same. Orgasms are stronger now.

14. I don't know the doctor.

15. Recovery took a while for me. I was given the okay to have sex after eight weeks, but it didn't consistently feel good until four-plus months. But then it was really good! 8-)
