I've been reading that surgeons (Eid) sometimes leave the reservoir in for revisions. Where does this leave someone young, e.g., 31, who needs multiple revisions? It doesn't seem reasonable to think he'll be filled up with reservoirs.
And if the reservoir is placed under some kind of mesh in the abdomen and is replaced in a surgery, what happens then? Does not all this removal of tissue and placement of mesh cause some kind of long-term damage to strength and function?

Re: multiple revisions and reservoirs
Do you mean that Dr Eid re-uses the same reservoir, or leaves the old one in and puts the new one elsewhere? I've not heard that they leave the old reservoir in forever everytime.
You worried about needing a new reservoir?

Re: multiple revisions and reservoirs
Yeah, I read that sometimes in a revision the reservoir is left inside the abdomen. And if a replacement resevoir is needed it is simply put on the other side of the abdomen. So you end up with two resevoirs.
And if the old resevoir is removed then I assume more muscle is cut again and another mesh device is needed to be place in the abdomen. So... what happens after multiple revisions?

Re: multiple revisions and reservoirs
I had 1 revision. My first reservoir was placed via counter incision right on belt line. I had RP and lots of scaring in lower abdomen and pelvis.
On my revision, surgeon just drain old reservoir and retain it. Removal would cause lots of damage and also second incision would be warranted.
He was able to place new reservoir in space of Retzius where usually reservoir goes. Surgeon who did my revision is very experienced and was able to insert reservoir without big problem.
