Surgical approach

Postby Iowa6505 » Wed May 18, 2022 11:26 am

Have decided to go ahead with implant. Would prefer to have the infrapubic approach due to shorter
down time.
Searching for a skilled surgeon in the midwest who primarily uses this approach to implanting.
Any suggestions or recommendations? I can find surgeons but unable to determine whether they
use the infrapubic approach.

Hello and welcome to the site. You might use the physician finder jn the upper right of this page. Or check Health Grades. Look on Health Grades for experience levels of normal or higher for penile implants and if the doctor does complex penile surgery that is a plus. And of course only research doctors with a high over all rating and some years of experience. If you post a location in the midwest there may be some other replies but members come and go on this board so you can also search using a doctors name in the search function. That will get you info from men no longer on this board. Many doctors can do both penascrotol and infrapubic but will do one more than the other. Good luck with your doctor search.

Dr. Joseph Mahon from Minnesota Urology did mine in 2020 at Bloomington Mn, using infrapubic incision. He is on one of Dr Perito's "Meet The Penis" videos where they are discussing infrapubic incisions and why they prefer them. Happy with results from Dr Mahon and would have him do replacement if ever needed.

I'm going to give you a 100 percent sure and easy way to do that. First have you decided which brand you want? That is key. Basic choices are Coloplast or AMS Boston Scientific. Choose one and call their number. You can easily find that online. They will put you in contact with their RN nurse in your area who will be present during your surgery to assemble the devise. Tell your contact that you want a good infrapubic surgeon and they will give you that guys number and call ahead to let his office know to expect you.
good luck
