Has anyone heard much about an implant causing an inguinal hernia if you're prone to these? I had the left side repaired more than 20 years ago. Reservoir will go on the right side, but I know they make a hole to insert the Reservoir. I wonder if you have a weak abdominal wall if this can cause a hernia.
Anyone experienced or read about this over time?

I didn't hear about a hernia caused by implant. I also had inguinal hernia repairs on both sides. My reservoir is located above the side with the mesh (on the left), as the right side may also need a mesh in future.

They just use their finger to make a place for the reservoir. With me it was the RP and blowing my stomach for that surgery that caused a hernia.

Have two inguinal hernias...one on each side. Lt repaired in ~1951 (4-5 inch scar), Rt repaired w/mesh in 2010. Uro surgeon knew and placed the reservoir on Rt side with mesh. No issues to date.
77; ED at 50. Fired by 1st doc (Szobota - VA Uro) too many q's & contact w/ Coloplast rep. New doc: Ellen (VA Uro) implanted 11/8/18. 22cm Titan + 2cm RTEs; moron docs, product rep, intake/ dischg nurses! NEVER again! L- 6.75"; G- 5.5" oval.
