UTI's and implant

Postby artful todger » Sun May 08, 2022 12:50 pm

I've had a UTI for a week and i've been taking antibiotics. It got a bit better quite quickly, but seems to be hanging on and i've only got one more day of tablets. I've had quite a sore foreskin and glans which improved but are still a bit sore after i urinate. Today my urine became sticky again but maybe i'm a bit dehydrated. My question is, i'm 12 weeks since my implant opp and i've carried on cycling twice a day even though my dick has been sore. Is this a good idea to continue as it may be aggravating my urethra. Mind you when i'm deflated my dog ears probably aggravate my urethra anyway. Has anyone else had UTI's in the early days of their recovery and what did you do?

Doctor?
Drink lots of liquids. Did you have your urine tested? With a culture? To determine what type of UTI infection you have.
I had a UTI after a cystoscopy, 4 months after my implant to verify and enlarged prostate. The lab tested the urine sample and verified the presents of infection, then cultured the sample. (took 48 hours) That allow the urologist to prescribe the correct medicine. It took about a week and a half to clear the infection. The doctor said to drink cranberry juice (100% juice).

Like stmfttr said, get to your doctor. Preferably your implant surgeon ASAP. I was cleared for sex at week 6, and I got busy, really busy with multiple partners. I got my first UTI at week 9 or so and went to my GP, did antibiotics and it cleared up and went back to fucking. A month or so later, wham, another UTI (or it wasn't knocked out the first time). This time I went to my implant surgeon, he did urine test and prescribed a heavy-duty antibiotic. It cleared up, and I've been fine since. He told me the more random sex I had, the greater my chances of this are and of course, I got the "use condoms" lecture. I'm not sure how much the implant itself has to do with your problems. Good luck!

I went to the docs on tuesday, did a urine sample which they dipped, phoned me the same day and said come in as they found white blood cells with the dip which signifies a UTI. They put me on a general antibiotic for that (macrobid nitrfurantion) and said they would send off the sample for analysis. As my mild fever cleared up and things got better i haven't hassled them and they haven't got back to me which they normally do if it's something to be concerned about. I'll ring them in the morning as i dont think it's cleared it completely. I'm going away for a week for my birthday with family tomorrow and i don't want it disrupting my fun.

I had a uti after about 5 weeks, rang gp and they prescribed antibiotics and I had to drop a sample in. Never heard anything back so presumed it was ok.
It cleared up for about 3 weeks then came back but much milder.
At my 2nd checkup with the surgeon they have provided me with 2 weeks of a different antibiotic and told me to come back for a flow test .
I do feel as if I’m peeing through a tiny hole and carnt generate a strong stream anymore .
I will wait to see what Ralph says in 3 weeks

Turns out it wasn't a UTI after all, so that week of antibiotics was a waste of time. I've got diverticulitis and i'm on a different course of antibiotics now.

I will sound a bit paranoid here, but could the reservoir be pushing on my colon causing diverculitis? it's on the same side. And could a perforation in the colon infect the reservoir . I've been on antibiotics for 5 days but still getting pain.

I highly doubt the reservoir is causing the diverticulitis. I've had diverticulitis for years before my implant. Mainly caused by diet of not enough ruffage, although family history plays a part too.

i had covid , bad stomach and loose stools a couple of weeks ago, i think the diverticulitis started just after this. But some people say exercise or anything that aggravates the colon can trigger an attack. i just wondered if the reservoir is close to it.
