5th Week:

I had my 'activation' appointment yesterday. The nurse couldn't find the deflate valve and then the surgeon came in and tried and couldn't find it, either. He was going into the options of a possible revision before he managed to find it and deflate me. Unfortunately, the pump is still kind of attached and jammed into the base of the penis, and the valve is still 'covered' with that film, so it's really hard to inflate or deflate. But I can do it. It takes about an hour or longer of fiddling around and there's a limit to how much I can inflate given that I can't get a good grip on the pump. I'm hoping that the swelling around the pump will settle even more and that might make things easier, otherwise it'll have to be a revision since I can barely deflate/pump without sitting fiddling around for an hour.

Inflated feels really strange. I can feel the 'rods' inside me and will take a while to get used to.

No longer waking up 4 a.m. etc., in pain although scrotum hurts like hell after inflating. I can't get it inflated enough to hurt my penis yet.

Glad you have some improvement... It definitely sounds like you may have a revision on the horizon. At 5 weeks you should be getting close for a trial run.

Week 6
It has now been five weeks since I've been implanted and a few days since I've had the implant 'activated,' and till now the experience has been mainly filled with pain and anxiety, but all backstopped by a very consciously deliberated decision that this was the right thing for me. I've just recently had my first positive shift in mood. I inflated and can see that the partial inflation is already bigger and harder than what my previous natural erection was. And this is me inflating when only being able to access like 1/4th to 1/3rd of the pump. I have had a venous leak for so long and had not had sex for so long that I forgot what a hard, erect penis actually looks and feels like. The implant reminded me of that.

Right now given that I don't have a partner, it's not yet usable unless I find someone I can talk to about it right from the get go (given the difficulties with the pump). I think that's pretty doable - I just can't test it immediately obviously. And anyway, if the pump situation changes, I can see myself testing it much earlier.

It still takes me a REALLY long time to inflate and deflate and my scrotum is then throbbing and itching with highly distracting pain all day. Before it took me over an hour. I can now do it in 30-40 minutes. The main reason it's taking so long is the pump is still stuck and covered in biofilm. I can't fully access the bulb with my fingers because it's jammed into the base of my penis and won't move at all, so I squeeze at a corner of it as much as I can - but then it pushes itself into the back of my scrotum and is extremely painful when I do that. And deflation is also extremely hard because the pump is so covered in this biofilm/muscle/hard material that I cannot feel enough of the pump to distinguish between different parts. This is the main problem right now. If it was just not attached to the base of my penis and covered in the biofilm and a little lower in my scrotum I believe everything would be perfect.

Another discomfort is that where I had stitches in my penis from the glansplexy there is a bit of discomfort/pain and I'm worried about something breaking there. The nurse told me there's nothing to worry about it.

Reflecting on what happened during surgery. I went to the best surgeon in Australia. However, my scrotum is unusually small so he could not fit the pump in and that required him to possibly do a lot of fiddling around. He told me that he also had to consult an international colleague to make a decision of how to position the pump. His choice was to either cut something in my scrotum and make room by causing it to drop further or position the pump sideways. He chose to position it sideways rather than cause even more change to my body. I understand and like that he chose to do that first. I'm just hoping this'll work out and that I won't need a revision.

Curious if for others the pump generally is able to be moved around a bit or is really confined and stuck in one place in the scrotum?

This was the worst part of my healing process till now. The penis felt hard and full, as if I were already fully inflated, but significantly smaller than what it was erect even with ED. I thought this would be my max size which was about 9cm. I was happy with the decision I made to get this done, but did feel pretty disappointed at this point when I combined that with everything else that was going on (the pain, the stuck pump, etc.).

I forgot to take a photo of the surgical scars from the glansplexy. This is where my surgeon stitched the head of my penis so it sat better on top of the implant tips (correcting SST / floppy glans) during the surgery.

Week 5 Activation Day

This was the first day my implant was deflated and I was told to inflate. This is the result after fiddling around for an hour (!) in the bath. I think that things will continue changing given that I can't inflate properly with accessing only 1/4th to 1/3rd of the pump. But I want to show this because it looks SO different and felt so different than the 'inflated' implant right after surgery from the earlier pics.

Right now I am starting to see how I might start getting more used to living with this and how much better things can be. My concerns have primarily reduced to: the consequences of the glansplexy (if any?), the pump being stuck and in a bad spot and the only possible option to fix it a revision which involves modification of my scrotum.

It's possible that I'm the one specific person who is not as suited to the infrapubic method as it is more difficult to place the pump in a small scrotum.

Hey Flip_5,
It really looks good. You have a nice angle and stiff erection within a short time of activation. I think the pump will not stay this high and with time it will settle down. Hot bathes will help on this.
Don't bother yourself with a revision now. Focus on enjoying your new tool!

Sorry man, I hope you recover soon. As a guy with your age, can I ask at what age the ED started. Before it started, you didn't need pills?

Probably around 24, but very very slight and only noticeable in retrospect. It was really 27-29 that things ramped up to the point of no return. Around 30 is when I finally got diagnosed with venuous leak. The rest is delays on surgery.
