Date set. Goodbye pills; needles; VED

Postby JonG2020 » Wed Apr 27, 2022 4:57 pm

Nine years since my RP. My topic says it all. My surgery date is 8 Jun 22 with Dr. Symbas. Head of Urology at Wellstar. He also did my RP. 100% confident in his skill set.
Deciding factor you ask? The implant stops shrinking; no more pills to refill; no possible priapism from injections;no more waiting for any of the previously mentioned to work or not. Ugh.
At 71 I’m ready, SO also,to renew the spontaneity of yesteryear!
I’ve been using a VED regularly for two years. Sex wise it’s just not very effective at all, lately.
Plus, I just feel I’m ready for the next step. All the brothers here at FT, have given so much knowledge and encouragement to everyone in all forms of ED.
I feel that I’ve given all avenues a good honest try and am READY.
Again thanks for all the information and support.

Good luck JonG2020!

I just had mine done April 1 and the healing had been easier than expected. I'm not using it yet but go for my training on cycling on Monday. I've followed my doctor's instructions to the t and feel like this had made recovery much easier on me. It also helps to have a surgeon who knows what they're doing.

Wishing you great healing and many years of good sex from your new penis!
58, implanted with 22 cm Titan (no RTE's) on April 1, 2022. Complete ED started after High Dose Rate Brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Tried everything else first but nothing worked. Wonderfully supportive wife!

Good luck with the surgery, Dr. Symbas was scheduled to done mine this month but my insurance would not cover it. Out of pocket would have been 25k. Looking for other options. He is a great guy. Did your insurance cover the cost.

Congrats on taking the next step. Sounds like my story, pills and injections started to be maybe it'll work this time. Hated having to plan sex or jump up to go inject. At 2 1/2 years out I'm loving my implant.

JonG,
Congratulations on your decision to get an implant.
I can relate to you with my prostate cancer at age of 51. After RP, I never recovered sexual function until I got implant in 2018. First one was not great and my implant surgeon was not very experienced ( learned that after he implanted me - to late). Had revision in 12/2020 with very experienced implant surgeon here in Houston.
Could not be happier.
It is worth.
