Prescriptions - Carry-On or as Checked Luggage

Postby username_taken29 » Fri Apr 15, 2022 4:17 pm

Sorry - bit of a silly question, but I've filled my prescriptions in Canada and heading to NYC for surgery.

Have folks typically put the prescriptions in their carry on luggage or safer to go in checked luggage? Thx.

Maybe not revelent. Family members have purchased legal drugs in Mexico. They walk across the border so yes, they have carried them on their personal items back into the USA. The border agents do have a few quidelines. I'm not sure about them but I'm under the impression that they don't like to see steroids or opioids. But I suspect that quanity might enter the picture. A bottle with a weeks supply with your local doctors name on it looks better than a few months worth with no USA info on it.
I would suggest going on the web & searching for this info. US Customs site should explain it all. Oh, I wish you good luck.

Always carry on. I’ve had medicine stolen in checked luggage on international flights.
