IPP with Dr. Hakky

Postby Nebraska64 » Thu Apr 07, 2022 5:40 pm

I have an implant scheduled with Dr Hakky on June 2. I would like to ask if anyone here who has had an implant with Dr. Hakky could answer some questions for me. I have a May 5th telemed appointment with him for clarification on some of these questions but am trying to schedule flights and hotel ASAP based on the timeline that fits the responses:
1. When is the follow up appt for removal of the catheter/drain since my procedure is on a Thursday and their office is closed on Fridays?
2. How long will I be left inflated (and to what degree) after removal of the drain?
3. How many days following the procedure will it be before beginning to cycle?
4. In short, how many days should I plan to stay in Atlanta so I can be cycling when I catch a return flight home?

Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to offer!

1. Hakky removes the catheter as soon as he finishes your surgery...you will not go home with a catheter.
2. The drain was left in 2 full days. I returned to have it removed...My wife could have removed it. It was hard to do whatsoever...I was inflated about 40%.
3. Cycling for me could have occurred in 6 weeks but i had to wait longer because i had serious pain. However, I did not know how to deflate the device adequately. After cycling, being unfamiliar with the device, I failed to deflate it. PLEASE KNOW WHERE THE DEFLATE BUTTON IS LOCATED AND HOW TO DEFLATE IT...or you will get a burning, itching pain in your entire shaft. I wanted it out. But I got through it.
4. My wife took me home after 3 days. I doubt if you cycle while in the great city of Atlanta...weeks later...

Hope this answer your questions adequately.

1. Catheter comes out during surgery.
2. Drain comes out 2 days later, I was inflated about 50%? Couldn’t tell really
3. I started cycling 7 days after the surgery.
4. My surgery was on a Tuesday, I left Atlanta the following Friday (10 days). Probably could have done sooner, but I feel like later would have been better.

Great experience with Hakky.

He’s a master of his craft. Studied under all the legends of the industry.

He doesn’t want you to cycle too quick because of sutures if it’s penoscrotal.

An ATL visit happens quickly.
Implanted by Dr. Hakky on August 6th, 2018 Coloplast 22 cm. Genesis pump failure 8/17/19. Revision 9/10/2019. Genesis pump failed 2/27/2020 while having sex. Second revision scheduled 4/7/2020 with new Titan One Touch pump instead of Genesis

Hey Roofer - how has your implant been working out since the revision with Hakky?
