Three days to go! I got through my pre-op yesterday, no surprises. I got a compliment from the medical history person. She looked at the test results from a recent physical and my doctors report and told me that she really knew all the answers to the healthy lifestyles questions but had to ask any way. EKG, so good that it was hook up the leads and take a picture, needed no time at all to see that all was going fine there.

Everything works well except for a little controlled high blood pressure and the limber lumber problem I am going to have fixed. Report to Hendersonville Medical Center at 1:00 pm, surgery actually scheduled for 3:00 pm. Still listed as going home same day.

Hendersonville Medical Center were all complimentary about Dr. Morris and said that he has well satisfied patients. That makes me feel good. It is like being operated on by my son, though.

I will have some pictures to post after I get them all together.

One of my co-workers put the surgery in a different light. It is fitting for my since I work in computer science. I am going in for a Hardware Upgrade. The plan, replace the floppy with a hard drive!

good luck tomorrow. It will be over before you know it. I'm flying 4 days ahead of you. the pain has been minimal, but a lot of swelling. My girth went up to about 10 inches (from the swelling - LOL) and my scrotum looks like a large purple gourd. Be sure to start the ice packs as soon as you can.

am keeping busy so that I don't have much time to worry. My idea. Not really apprehensive, just waiting on time to setep through the door to the land of bionics.

Hope it went well. 5 days post-op for me now. Swelling is starting to go down. Still relatively little pain.

FAILURE!!

Implant aborted , after beginning of surgery. Urologist couldn't insert catheter! More side effects of old Radical Prostatectomy. He aborted the implant and opened up the opening to the bladder so now it is at least another month to impLANT. Also high probability of some degree of permanent leakage, how much TBD.

So I am living with a catheter for a little better than a week with no benefits. When the catheter comes out we will start looking at options. Looks like I might get to have two pumps before all is said and done. Urologist expects to maybe do implant in a month if all heals well from the reamer job.

If my small amount of leakage now increases and the urologist says that this is likely, I will be a candidate for the AUS next. So three for the idea of one! Should I have bothered??

Radiodec, sorry to hear about that. Well at least there are fallbacks. You can join us "double dippers" who have both IPP and AUS implants. But it is such an ordeal to go through and for nothing. But hang in there. Even though he only implanted one tube in me, I'm still staying for a positive outcome.

Got through Day 5 today and swelling has gone down a lot. I'm starting to feel the extra hardware in my left sack (not to be confused with the hardware in my right sack). I'm actually feeling very good. Here's to ultimate success for us all.
