Going Bonic!

Postby brianroa7 » Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:55 am

I'm 58 and have complete ED following HDR Brachytherapy (temporary seeds) for prostate cancer. After trying all the more conservative measures for ED and all failed, I decided to go with an implant. The date of my surgery is April 1 and I'm really looking forward to getting this done and getting on with life. It feels like life has been on hold ever since my cancer diagnosis. Treatment went well for that but ruined my sex life. I'm thinking about posting sort of a journal here if that could be of any help to those who are thinking about implantation. I know I had lots of questions and this place is a great place to get answers.

I'd like to help others considering it in any way that I can. I'll probably post some more, leading up to the operation and then afterward to give you guys a sense of what it is like going through the process.

Right now at less than two weeks away I'm excited and scared all at the same time, but I'm going into this with the most positive attitude I can. I firmly believe this helps greatly with recovery and getting back to life as it's intended to be with my supportive and wonderful wife.

I will be happy to answer any questions you might have all through my process, either in the forum or feel free to pm me.

Stay tuned!

I’m 58 and after 2 heart attacks and 4 lower back surgeries I had ED. I am 7 months post implant. I have the titan and I give it 2 thumbs up. My mental health prior to the surgery was horrible despite having a very very understanding wife. She never complained at all. My ego was so messed up because I’ve always wanted my partner to be satisfied before me and now it wasn’t possible. I got her a toy and she was okay with it but nothing is like the real thing. My mental health has never been better and she says that it’s longer and thicker, still feels when I cum but she says it’s better and I presume it’s because of the increased girth. We are both very pleased with the results and I wish you luck on your journey.

Thanks, men! I remember the first time my doctor brought this up, I told him "no way!" Things changed quite a bit once we had tried 3 levels of injections that did nothing whatsoever-except cause pain for a couple of days when I was using the strongest doses. Things look a lot differently when you start feeling great after cancer treatment, but your body isn't able to cooperate anymore. My doctor was surprised when I brought it back up. I think my strong negative response the first time made him reluctant to bring it up again, so I opened that door. Glad it's working out now though! I'm glad yours have gone well too.

Yep, I did something similar. First prostate cancer, then robotic surgery , injections became more pain than pleasure. At first I said I will not stick a needle in "JR"penis but ED made me try it. Next Dr mention implant, said to myself no way, but then again old buddy ED made me do it. I'm 4 weeks post-op and doing well, be a few more weeks before I test drive the new"JR" but I'm already glad I did it

Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I don't have any medical issues like you, but once ED hit my life just spiraled into depression. After healing from the implant surgery life has been great.

Welcome to the group. Where are you located and who is doing your IPP? I was fortunate to get to 72 with a very active sex life, but I swear after all my nerves were removed in a RP I had PTSD. I wanted to kill someone. I kicked myself a million times for not trying seeds, but as I see, it has side effects also. I hang out here to help others. Information is like gold.

I was so disappointed with my ED after prostate cancer treatment. I couldn't do RP because of earlier abdominal surgery so I really didn't have much choice. At least I never had any urinary symptoms. Mine is being done at University of Virginia Medical Center by Dr. Ortiz. After learning more more about his background I feel very confident in his work.

I'm just so tired of dealing with ED. It seems to always be on my mind even outside of the bedroom. My mood has lifted quite a bit even just by getting surgery scheduled.
