T-Minus 5 days until implant

Postby Jake xyz » Thu Feb 17, 2022 8:01 pm

So, I am scheduled to get an AMS implant on Feb 22. I've read all I can find on here. My doctor told me that most patients tell him they wished they had done it sooner. There was a prostate cancer message board one time where a guy posted that he felt he had wasted 2 years of sex life by waiting to make the decision to get an implant...I hope that I am also going to regret waiting!

I had RALP (prostate removed) in May 2018 (age 55) - oh and I just turned 59 a couple months ago. Up until that moment, I had not ever ever ever had a second of ED -- almost the opposite as the little head was a tempter of bad decisions. But after the prostate surgery, full ED -- maybe it was karma. HA!

Anyway, pills kind of work sometimes but not great; and make me feel terrible for hours afterwards, most of the time I take them. Injections, I just dont like them. And it was hit and miss with the dosage. I would end up with 4 hour painful erections on only 10 units and then the next time 8 wouldnt be enough. And the erections were actually too hard, and somewhat painful to use. I mean you are sticking it in the softest place in the world, and if it still hurts then its not so good.

So, I am to the point of an implant -- which scares the hell out of me, but reading on here has helped alleviate some of the anxiety. I'm no stranger to surgery, as I have a variety of surgeries before (5 to be exact). I'm hoping this wont be too bad for recovery. I have heard guys on here say it was and it wasnt, so I am hoping for "not too bad".

one thing I forgot to ask my Dr....are you under general anesthesia or some kind of local and semi knocked out like a colonoscopy? He said he would keep me overnight, but some of his colleagues send their patients home the same day.

Anyway, see you on the other side.
59. ED from prostate removal surgery in 2018. Low doses of Trimix worked fine but usually gave a painful erection. Sildenafil - hit and miss but caused headaches for 8-12 hours. AMS-700CX 21 cm cylinder placed on 2-22-22.

Hi Jake xyz,

Your background is more or less the same as mine. I was 52 when the wheels fell off (prostate cancer and robotic surgery) and I was in a dark place for a long time as the ED took over. Pills did not work, Injections hurt like hell, trimix was better but that started to fail me. I just had Dr Eid put in new plumbing and I'm as happy as Hell!!! You will love it!! Healing is not bad, ice, ice, ice, ice for the swelling. I found the pain really is more a discomfort and you go home with pain killers and later aspirin took care of it. If the anxiety is high, ask your Dr for a small prescription for some Valium to take the edge off. I did, and while I had a moment of Flight at the hospital it past and I'm glad I did it.

I wish you the best on your journey!! Keep us updated. This Group of Guys are the BEST

Dr. Perito does IV sedation with a local block, though I think he'll give you general anesthesia if you prefer it and specifically ask for it. I didn't.
Born 1982. Implanted with Coloplast Titan 22cm in August 2021 by the great Dr. Perito in Miami. 6.125" BPEL, 5.25" EG. "It's the girth that gets her off."
