SearchingUSA,
You are in good hands. Dr Clavell great and very experienced in implants. Last year he went north of 160 implants. He is great guy, always responds promptly and fast to any questions you had or might have. He did my revision on 12/2/20 and I can not be happier.
I live in Houston. If you want to meet, send my PM. Will gladly talk about anything implants related. I am not your age but our common denominator is Dr Clavell.
I wish you all the best.

Hey, early 30s and my situation sounds very much like yours - good luck with it all I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the outcome, and congrats on taking this matter into your own hands.

Ok, back at my rental, procedure went smoothly. Last thing I remember is going over some disclosures with the anesthesiologist, then a brief snippet of scootching over from one bed to another in what I assume was the OR, and then it’s like I teleported through time and space to the recovery room. Woke up with maybe an 8/10 on the pain scale, the head of my penis and upper shaft were somehow completely numb and radiating pain at the same time. Same for my lower abdomen above the groin. I whined to the nurse, they gave me something that took the edge off within a few minutes, and when I was still feeling uncomfortable after 15 minutes or so they gave me more of the good stuff and the pain went down to a 1 or 2.

Dr. Clavell came by shortly (I think, my time perception was screwy) after the procedure to check in and tell me how it went, and again maybe an hour later to give details and walk through the next steps. Main points were:
- No surprises or complications, went smoothly
- No RTEs
- Good placement of the tips, no hyper mobility in the glans
- Currently inflated at 60-70% and will stay that way until I start cycling, which he guesses might be as soon 3 weeks from now if I’m a fast healer
- Implant size is 22cm -.5cm, he trimmed a bit off the top in order to fit the largest hardware possible. Love that philosophy! It’s more device than I expected for someone with a pre-surgery length of ~6 inches, but of course with no RTEs that’s because a decent chunk of it is in my crus.

Urination is working fine, no burning, maybe a bit slow and I can’t quite feel the urinary sphincter, but it more or less starts and stops at the appropriate time. No catheter at any point, as far as I know.

Pain wise, I’m feeling pretty good with the pill the hospital gave me just before discharge. I’m going to sleep while the getting is good, as I can sense that there will likely be some discomfort when it wears off. Dressing doesn’t come off until Friday, but what I see of my penis head and top shaft isn’t horrifying. If people think it would be helpful to have pics in the thread, let me know, I don’t mind sharing but also thought it might be weird if I just started hitting the community with dick pics without prior warning.

Thanks for the well wishes, all. MK, I especially appreciate you offering to meet up, but I don’t really see myself doing anything other than staying holed up in my rental with DoorDash and Netflix until it’s time to fly out. Nice to hear from another Dr Clavell patient, I fully agree with your impression of him. I feel quite lucky that he was available for my procedure.

I am glad everything went well. Rest and use ice to prevent swelling and ice will be your friend in the next few days. I wish you speedy recovery.
I am sure Dr Clavell gave you his personal phone number.
He is great guy, great personality and passionate listener.

Woke up at 8am to a checkup call from Dr Clavell, basically seeing if I had any problems or additional questions, and filled me in on some details that couldn’t recall from yesterday. It turns out the implant was a 22cm with .5cm trimmed off to fit the maximum in there, which is definitely a philosophy and attention to detail that I can appreciate. Like others have said, the best advice is choosing a good doctor, and thanks to the many others who have shared their stories on FT, I believe I did that with Dr. Clavell.

By the way, I was ~6” before surgery, and there’s no RTEs on that 22cm, so a lot of that length is in my crus. I understand that will probably make the stability better, but as you all know, the surgery doesn’t add length.

Trying to eat as much as possible and plenty of meat to help with the healing. Also pounding water, I’ve gone through 3+ liters in the past 17 hours. Urine is dark like it would be when dehydrated, I think my kidneys are probably getting a lot of work with all the antibiotics that are prescribed, so I’m trying to help them out with plenty of fluid intake.

Pain wise, I’m at a 2 or so and managing with just Tylenol Max. Probably most of the discomfort is coming from my balls, there’s a vague feeling in my stomach like I got kicked in the nuts. It’s not awful, and ice helps, even through the hefty bandages. Whatever was used to numb my penis yesterday has almost fully worn off, and when the glans is in the open air it… feels kind of good? Which leads me to…

The strangest dichotomy is that everything down there is swollen and bruised and I don’t want anyone or anything coming near it… but at the same time, I have a constant erection that is as good as anything I’ve had in years, so I’m actually a bit horny and the monkey part of my brain is like, “use it! Use it while you have the chance!” But obviously the long game is what’s important, and I’ve waited for a long time to have a fully functioning dick, so I can certainly wait for things to normalize. I’m sure that when I take the bandages off tomorrow, one look at the mess down there will firmly cement my priorities: heal first, fun later.

Everything feels much more swollen and pressure-filled now than it did this morning when I wrote my last update. Feels like my taint is either constipated or pregnant. Definitely worse when I’m laying in bed, so doing laps in the condo to hopefully help my body redistribute some of that fluid. That dichotomy of discomfort and horniness? Resolved. Discomfort has won handily.

Really hoping this eases up in the next 36 hours or that plane ride and driving myself home is going to be roughhhh.

Hey, thanks for the kind words and encouragement, cbinspok. No direction to go but forward, I’ll keep pushing through this.

48 hours since surgery, so I took the bandages and surgical tape off today as ordered. I was concerned it would be a complete war zone down there, but aside from the bruising and a decent amount of swelling, it generally still looks like my junk. Pro tip: use baby oil to soak the surgical tape and take your time, it doesn’t have to be painful.

Two mildly unsettling things:
1) when washing my balls (oh so very gently), brushing up against that hard, unfamiliar hunk of plastic pump. Maybe I’m a hypochondriac, but touching something hard and unfamiliar down there caused an association with testicular cancer and a momentary spike of panic. But the moment passed as my brain made sense that I was feeling the new, permanent addition to the family down there. I imagine this will be repeated many times in the coming months before I stop being surprised by the sensation.

2) my ball sack is very full and more forward than pre-surgery. If I was trying to put my dick inside someone right now, my sack would put a limit on penetration far before reaching my pubic bone. What I’m saying is, it looks like I have a lot less usable length at the moment. BUT! I am aware that I am literally in the early days of this, and I vaguely recall others mentioning that this is due to swelling and resolves itself in the weeks/months ahead. So I will not panic. I will be patient. I will focus on the things I can control, like eating enough food and taking my medicine.

SearchingUSA wrote:Luis, by the way, much respect for the “party trick” you share in your dating thread, you are an absolute madman and I mean that as a high compliment. Might have to give that a try when I’m healed and back in the game. But it also sounds kind of horrifying, so maybe not.

I'm definitely a madman but even i'm not brave enough to jump to an implant just yet. Best of luck on your recovery, Clavell is one of the best!
