Has anyone gone to a country outside the US to get a pump implanted?

The final frontier. Deciding when, if and how.

I might look for a cheaper oil change on my new pickup, The lawn service guy, and the cost of my clothing but when it comes to the FAMILY future I don't want the cheapest.... I want the BEST !!! If the doctor screws it up big time or you get a severe infection the ride is over !! Just my thoughts!

It doesn't make sense that an Australian would travel to India for this surgery when a good portion of the surgery and hospital stay in Australia are paid by health insurance.

I'm pretty sure that the posters screen name is Bushpig. Somehow his name didn't get copied, sorry. As I recall Bushpig did get an implant in Australia.
I'm not the guy to call him a liar. But take a minute to consider that his cousins province might have less generous of a health plan than the other ones. I gather that the Canadian provinces are not all equal concerning implant surgeries.
As for medical tourism. A group of women from where I had worked did a bit of that. But as I understood it. The woman that had the most done had the big work done in the USA.
FWIW, there is a small community in Mexico very near Yuma. Lots of retired snowbirds visit there during the winter. You can just walk across the border there. My late brother used to get his teeth cleaned there, maybe a filling or two, bought glasses at least once. He took a stomach medicine that was discontinued in the USA. He bought it in Mexico. He told me that they (US customs) would only let you import 6 months supply of drugs. His doctor would write him & his wife each a 6 month prescription so he could get a years worth every winter.
Now for where you might get some cost savings. Drug companies do adjust their prices downwards in less affluent countries. Basically along the lines of what the local market will bear. I'm only guessing that medical devices might follow the same policies.

Hi Guys, I just want to set the record straight regarding a post which I posted about my cousins bad experience in India.
I have had my surgery done in Australia without any issues and being very happily using my bionic tool for the past 3 years now.
The article i posted was about the dramas my cousin who lives in the U.K had when he went to India to have surgery there.
55 yo Aussie. E.D all my life. Used Viagra for years but. Went on to Injections which worked well but very inconvenient and didnt work sometimes. Implanted Jan'18 with Titan one touch 20cm/ 1.5RTE by Pro Chung in Brisbane.

@everyone
fair points about not fooling around looking for bargains when it comes to important gear! I am by no means searching for the cheapest, simply the best quality for the best price.
The horror stories in this thread definitely make me want to go with a well known surgeon from the states. Booked my surgery today for end of March this year with Dr. Hakky who I've heard good things about. Now just need to get to the date without pussying out.
