Inflamation after implant surgery?

Postby josemaria » Mon Jan 17, 2022 7:30 am

Hi,
I had my prostate removed a year and a half ago and had a bad case of some sort of inflammation in in the scrotal/anus area which prevented me from defecating properly for almost 5 days. Since the penile implant surgery is basically around the same area of the prostate removal surgery, I was wondering if any of you who have had implant surgery had this problem after your surgery and how you managed it.
My prostate surgery was very painful and my recovery was very slow. I was wondering if I will have to go through the same process again if I can have the implant surgery. I have complete ED after the prostate surgery - not even Trimix worked.
Every two or so I keep doing the vacuum therapy to engorge my penis since it keeps on shrinking.
Thanks in advance for any replies/advise.

I am not sure why you had a lot of pain after your surgery, maybe infection from that area before surgery?
My prostate removal was not that painful, I had more pain with the implant surgery but very tolerable. I had complete ed after also, hence implant. Pm if you like. Jim

Might be helpful if you explained what type of procedure you had to remove the prostrate.

It sounds like you may of had a Perineal prostatectomy (removal of the prostate through an incision in the region between the testicles and anus) but I don’t want to make that assumption.

Hi,
I guess I forgot that small detail. I had an open surgery over my bladder - it was not perinneal. I also could not get the robot assisted surgery due to a previous exploratory surgery in my abdomen when I was 29. Now I am 60 and the surgeons indicated all the tissue from my abdomen has fused with my skin so it was dangerous to have used robot.
Another thing that hurt me the most during my prostate surgery recovery weeks was the presence of the catheter in my penis - this is so because I have a condition named hypospadia which is an congenital anomaly in which the opening in the penis is not at the tip of the penis, but it is located lower and underneath.
For the implant my urologist have told me a smaller catheter will be used and that it will be removed before I leave the hospital the next day.
I still don't have a date for my surgery - it will be done at the local VA Hospital. I need to get done a cystoscopy now in February. And hopefully this COVID wave will have gone down by then also.
I wish I can get this implant surgery done - I have not been able to have an erection for almost two years now!
