What happens if i don’t cycle for months after my surgery?

Postby guyinthedarkness » Mon Jan 03, 2022 6:41 pm

Hello guys,

I have a questions because I’m very worried. After my surgery (coloplast titan 22 cm) i started cycling for a few weeks but the pain was so extreme that I stopped doing it. Even painkillers don’t work. After more than one year I haven’t seen changes in size. Not wondering, I mean I haven’t never stretched the implant to maximum. I had also a depressed phase last year and was not in the mood a lot to worry about the cycling.

Now I feel better and I started again to cycle 20 minutes a day to 80-90%, of course it burns like hell. One of the worst pains I ever had. But my most important question:

I’ve red that cycling prevents capsule formation after surgery. Does that mean that I maybe have not the chance to stretch my implant to gain my old size back? Maybe tissue has already been formed around my cylinders due to not cycling for so much time?

Does anyone has an answer or experience if size loss can be irreversible if you start cycling too late?

I really don’t wanna have this pain while cycling, when it’s clear that I’m already too late for regaining my old size…

Would love to get some answers.

Best regards

Cycling earlier is better. Cycling later is more painful, but CAN STRETCH SCAR TISSUE, so there is never a "too late" point in time.

For me to speculate in more detail would have limited value. Talk to your surgeon. TALK TO YIOUR SURGEON. And do not wait.

You took a proactive step to address youe E.D. when you opted for the implant. It is now time IT IS NOW TIME to tak proactive steps to address THIS QUESTION!

Thank you again! But are you sure that it’s never too late? Only Problem that I see is that not cycling could form a capsule formation or the coffin effect, like I said in the other thread.

I’ve red on a few urologist websites that this is the reason why they recommend an early start to cycle because it could form a capsule formation, which also results in penile shrinkage. Unfortunately there seem to be no studies or real data about this.

After my implant I did not know about cycling. On the other hand, whenever I inflated it caused burning pain along my shaft. That happened until I was 5 months post, although it was less and less as the weeks went by. Needless to say inflation only happened for sex. At 5 months post I found FT and found out you're supposed to cycle once a day for close to an hour. I started cycling then, did it for two months but gained less than 1/8" so I quit.
At this point I'm happy that I can get hard despite losing close to an inch in length. So, in my opinion if you don't cycle as soon after surgery as possible you just may lose some.

Thank you! I would really like to hear if other people experienced the same like you. The theory would be:

Not cycling directly after surgery = penile capsule formation and bad scarring = irreversible shrinkage

Hey everyone, I am Sam, are 55 and new to the forum. Had a Titan 22cm implant 3 weeks ago and have been a little worried about when to start cycling too, as lots of websites suggest the sooner the better. But you know we have to get around pain and swelling ect so we can only do what we can do. I did read a research paper from 2014 by some Italian scientists about the pseudo capsule and “coffin effect”. They suggested that the sooner you get into cycling the better and if you don’t once that capsule forms around cylinders it restricts their expansion especially in girth and it may well be permanent. They said you end up only being able to stretch in length. I would always suggest speaking the surgeon who did the job for their advice.

Good luck!!

I didn't get to pump it up until 6 weeks and i was flaccid all that time. Im one of the fortunate one's as i had little pain after 3 weeks. I'm now 4 mos. and pretty much back to where i was pre-op, except girth ive gained more. I think he may have tied pump in place at bottom of incision to leep in place as it is a preconnected implant. It's still a little stuck on it which fells the same as you were saying, but has thinned and don't obstruct me from pumping on one side or other. Not saying thats what was done with yours, just mine and works great!

I am 3 weeks today from surgery. The pain is unbearable. Today I pumped maybe 5 times and had the worst stinging/itching/burning feeling I have ever felt. I took a Tylenol #3 and a Gabapentin, but it did not help at all. This thing has to come out of my body. I have an appointment tomorrow. Hopefully he can convince me because I really wanted this to be a success. Apparently, I am just not Man Enough...

Good Luck to the rest of you guys!
