implants fail at a rate of roughly 2% per year. so at 10 years, on average, 80 men out of 100 will have a working implant (ie, implant failure happens one in five men at the ten year point)

see the attached graph from a scientific paper

the trouble is that it is difficult to figure out which data point you will actually be.

The thing is you will find a bit of difference in published data if you do a web search (recommended you do). This is because some of the information is not dated so you have no idea how old the data is and the common thought on this is that implants and maybe doctors are better now than they were 10-20 years ago. The graph posted above was for the AMS (Boston Scientific) device so it had no Coloplast products in it.

Look for published papers and the dates of the studies. And look for the devices studied. Also look for any connection with a product that is trying to be promoted that might skew the results.

I am on a back up computer and do not have access to any of my saved documents. So try a Google or Bing or whatever you use search. You can search this forum or check the Documents worth reading thread in the general section of this forum but again look close at any studies as some can be very old.

I had once a consult with a high volume implanteer and hè said most implants fails within 10 years. Also most of the Guys on the board who had their first implant 8+ years ago already had a revision.

Are you sure you heard him right? I've never heard or read of MOST implants failing within 10 years.

Well yeah, because where do you think men with problems with their implants will go?

Do you actually think FT is a fair sample range of men with implants?

No.
37, mild to moderate ED since age 21, 3 Dopplers - 1 result VL & 3 later results 'no physical problem', dependent on cialis (efficacy now waning), overcame Lymophoma at age 26, ED causing immense/profound psychological distress. Considering implant.

My point is that the Internet and a hub of information that pertains to your problem is exactly where you’ll go and regularly post if you have problems.

I’m sure someone’s done a count here of the number of people that got an implant then dropped off the radar. Implying they’re just getting on with their lives. And it was high.

People flock to the Internet with an axe to grind or a problem to solve.

Using FT as your sample of implant failure rates, across the board, is surely biased and unrepresentative of reality.
