Story
Well I suppose this will become my journey journal. I have a very odd situation which is why I am choosing to put it out there. There are a bunch of journals on franktalk but I haven’t found one that fits my situation.
In august I had a long standing priapism due to trimix at a swing party. I was too embarrassed to go to the emergency room until like 36 hours later. I didn’t understand penile anatomy as I do now or I would have went after 5 hours. By the time they got to me to drain me a good 38 hours had gone by. The emergency room sent me to a urologist who was an asshole. He kept draining my by repoking a new needle at different points in the shaft of my penis and squeezing and bending it to try and force the blood out all the while injecting me full of Phenylephrine. At one point he was visibly pissed and said “you better hope this goes down or your gonna be really unhappy when I have to shove a scalpel through the head of your penis and shunt it. Then you’ll probably need an implant!” Which just scared the hell out of me. For 4 hours he beat the shit out of me and it was some of the worst pain both physical and emotional I’ve ever dealt with. After that he got it downish….but it wasn’t fully down. He sent me home and said go back to the hospital if it comes back.
The next day it was in fact back and in full effect. So I went back to the hospital where they called the on call urologist who was a guy I knew from previous experience. He told me the original urologist wanted to come help me but I told him I didn’t want to see him again and please come. So he did. They did the “winters shunt” where they shove a surgical needle through the head of the penis connecting the glans blood supply with the main body supply allowing it to drain.
For the next 2 months or so my penis didn’t work at all but was always stiff like a chubby.

I was told to go see a different urologist who could diagnose me and determine if I should get an implant. Well I went to him and he did the Doppler, I warned him that I was afraid of the injections. He cut the dose in half and shot it up. For the first time, it came back. He did the Doppler and said it was surprising how well it worked considering what I went through. This resulted in another priapism, kinda….he shot me up with more phenelephidine, got it downish. In the mean time he told me to wait and see if I healed, if not we would go with the implant, a titan. Mind you my penis still wasn’t getting erect really much at all…..luckily I was able to not go into another serious priapism. But I did manage to freak this Dr out enough that he gave me his personal cell phone number and called to check on me a few times after I left.

Then after reading franktalk, I realized that while this urologist I was dealing with was a skilled implanter, I have Dr Eid right here! My guy said he does 30 a year, Dr Eid does 300 a year! Well that’s a no brainer. I had my initial consult with Dr Eid scheduled.
My penis started to work but was unreliable.
Full disclosure, my wife and I are swinger. We have a lot of sex in a lot of really crazy fun situations….or we did before Aug. While my penis started working a bit, it’s unpredictable and sometimes it need constant stimulation to stay hard. Haven’t had sex with a condom since this started but I don’t think that will go well. A few times I got scared and thought maybe I should go to the ER! But it would eventually subside. I have also been doing vacuum pump to prep for a possible implant. Later in the day I’d try to masturbate and it wouldn’t be fully hard or up and down….not reliable. I quit the cialis in hopes of stopping the nightly priapisms but they kept coming. I scheduled the Doppler with Dr Eid.

When I got home I went to see Dr Eid, I warned him about the nightly mini priapisms and told him they freak me out and that I’m afraid of what he is about to inject me with. So he injects me with half his normal dose of Edex….my erection shows up. He does the Doppler and says I have good blood flow in. He asks if I was able to get that erection with injections, would I be ok with that? I told him I’m still really afraid of the injections. He said he thinks I should wait until one year from the priapism and think about it. I agreed with him based on what he saw……lol. Then it happened. Have any of you ever seen Dr Eid concerned? I have.

He says to me “take a fast walk or jog to the hospital and back. The increase in heart rate should make your penis go back down”
I ran to the hospital and back trying to really raise my heart rate. No effect. He says well I’m gonna have to give you phenelephidrine and drain you…..great, here we go again.
Dr Eid really taught me that draining a priapism doesn’t need to hurt like that asshole at the hospital. Dr Eid stuck me with a single butterfly needle and tube. Used a large syringe to suck a bunch of blood out and inject a bunch of ephedrine in.
After 2 hours, Dr Eids demeanor changed. It went from I can teach you to do the injections using a dose that works for you to him saying “this is really abnormal”.
4 hours from the time I arrived, Dr Eid expertly convinced my dick to stay down. He said he thinks I have a lot of scar tissue inside my penis that is not allowing the blood flow out. Bloodflow in is great, bloodflow out is bad…..he said I’m at high risk of priapism again, with or without medication. It’s not a matter of if, it will happen again. I said have you ever implanted a dick that works too well? My job takes me to some places outside the United States. Namely Central America and the Caribbean where hospital care might not be so good. To have a priapism there could be really bad. That scares me.
After the 4 hours of trying to make my dick go down Dr Eid said to me that he was the first penis injection places in NYC before the pills existed. He would get calls to drain penises all the time. Even now they aspirate penises every single day…..he hasn’t injected that much phenelephidrine in someone or fought that hard to make a penis go down in over 20 years. I said “whoa!” Then he again pointed out how abnormal that was. I think it really caught him off guard and frankly franktalkers…..This is one of, if not the best penis doctors around. That says a lot.

Now granted, my penis can get hard. Not as hard or as straight as it used to, lost some length without an implant but with I should get it back. It’s fatter than normal and to me it looks lumpy and not straight. To someone else they might not notice.

At the end of the day I told Dr Eid I have two questions for him.
1. If I was to wait until a year after the priapism and decide. Would that be a decent decision given what you just saw over the last 4 hours? He said yes.
2. If I was to say I’m over this, I think the scarring is too bad and I don’t want to end up in the hospital in a country with sub par healthcare with a priapism. So Let’s just do the implant now. Would that be a good decision?
He said yes. He said because I’m 47 there’s a very small possibility I could heal more but he really doesn’t think so. Like a small small chance. But if you are worried about another priapism and have decided that you are over it, an implant now is not a bad decision. He said he thinks I will need one eventually anyway. I said then if that’s the case, why wait?

And so I’m scheduled for mid December for an implant. I’m scared shitless and hoping I am making the right decision. I went so far as to keep a daily penis journal as to when it worked satisfactorily or not. Those injections are not an option for me. Whenever I wake up with a painful dick because it’s been hard all night or when I masturbate and it’s not working great or the way it used to, it emboldens me. When I have sex with my wife and I’m able to keep it hard due to excess viagra (like seeing blues excess) it dumbfounds me…..of course I pay for it for the rest of the night with a dick that won’t go down until sometime the next day with a little pain.

So what do y’all think out there in franktalk land? This dick scares doctors when it gets hard. 4 separate urologists said I’d eventually need one. My main urologist thinks I’m too young but doesn’t understand the lifestyle aspect of it. He is my testosterone urologist and was on vacation when this happened in the first place sadly. Of course he hasn’t examined me since or injected me to allow my dick to scare him when he can’t get it to go down.
It’s an odd one indeed. This forum has helped me significantly thus far and brought me to Dr Eid, one of the best in the world.

Wow!!! What a journey!! And as you said an irregular one at that. I’m 56 and have used pills for 10 years and now injections for a little over a year and they are terribly irregular with only one scare of priapism over the last year. I’m dealing with some BPH and about to have a aquablation done first of next year and then on to an implant. Hearing your life style and other issues if I were in your shoes I would be having the implant ASAP! Life is too short….. enjoy while you can. I’m looking at the fact that with an implant you can have penetrative sex any time as long as you want and in the swinging lifestyle you would get plenty attention and would soon be known for the benefits you would have with the implant. i think you should try cialis and just set alarms at night and do a shitton of pushups to make it go down.
i event went as far as having some weights to do deadlifts and squats. those are pretty much guaranteed to make the erection go away.

i think that the fact that you will eventually need one is good enough reason tbh. ultimately it's your decision just wish you best of luck.

No, he was just a dick with no bedside manner. In fact the morning after my winters shunt, he showed up to my room at the hospital….I was still a little out of it on morphine. I highly doubt he cared about trimix or whether it restricted anyone from getting it. Sexual function was not his forte. Which is why his partner referred me to another urologist closer to NYC. They knew I was outside their realm, thankfully.

As for trimix, I know many people are who use it and anyone can easily get it online from an online doc for a few bucks after answering a few questions. There was nothing indicating I’d have such a bad reaction to it. I don’t think it’s unsafe but the shit is potent. People need to heed that warning that if you have an erection for more than 4 hours, you need to go to the ER. It is an emergency. Take it from me.
