why pull down on the pump

Why does everyone advise to pull down on the pump in the post-surgery period? Would happily follow it but am not coz of 2 reasons:
1. when i asked my surgeon this, he said no need
2. im scared something would get out of place if I do.

But if this is the majority opinion, I would gladly follow it, particularly since the tubing is protudong in 1 place near the shaft.

Any advice would be appreciated

Best advice is follow your doctor’s guidance.

I fall into the category of “guys whose doctor told him to pull down on pump.”

I don’t know this for sure, but I suspect a lot of guys (not everyone) have a squeeze bulb that tries to migrate upwards during healing, scar tissue formation tries to pull it in to a location where it will be difficult to pump. Mine certainly was high and inconvenient for a while post-surgery, and the doc kept telling to pull it down with gentle but sustained pressure (not yank or tug on it roughly).

It never seemed to do much good and then one day I woke up….and this was maybe a couple of months after the surgery…..and the bulb had dropped down within my nutsack (or scrotum if you prefer) and was at a much better location for use. It’s not quite ideal, but nearly so.

If your doctor is saying not to pull, I would think it’s because what he is seeing suggests that yours is in a good spot and it is best not to mess with it.

For me it was because the pump seemed attached to my sack. Some say the surgeon uses dissolving stitches to hold the pump in place during the procedure. Anyways, eventually one morning everything loosened up.

Due to a scrotal swelling issue, I was not able to "pull down" on the pump, starting at 3 days post surgery.(per the surgeon) Hell, I couldn't even feel the pump for about 10 days.
As a result, My pump resides a bit higher in my scrotum...BUT the pump works great, no issues.
IMHO, the reason they want you to pull down on the pump is aesthetically, when naked, the pump is less noticeable.

ANYWAY... always do what your doctor instructs you to do.

Before surgery I made sure I told the surgeon that I wanted the pump set way down low in the scrotum. On my first revision the surgeon left the pump too high and when I would get an erection the pump looked like a ball at the base of the shaft. Doctor kept saying to pull it down, but it never really did. So ten months later I had the pump fail and I made sure the pump was placed low. It is the perfect spot for the pump. The shaft is all natural looking and great for oral sex etc.

Dr. Eid places the pump perfectly. When I asked him if I needed to pull down on the pump he laughed. “The pump will be where it needs to be”

I was told to gently pull down on the pump a few times a day. I did, and now, 7 months in, the pump seems to float around freely in my sac, going where it wants depending on how tight or loose my scrotum is at the time.
