Hello,
I had surgery Friday morning. I’ve iced myself and layed flat all weekend. My instructions are to take out the catheter tomorrow and take a hot bath and attempt to inflate assuming I am confident I have found the release valve.
Assuming not everyone heals at the same rate, is there anything I should be looking for, apart from infection, that would say I’m not ready to pull out the catheter or take a bath? Like if I’m still very swollen or the sutures don’t like closed over?
Nervous/excited/scared to see what’s under this jock strap…
Thanks for for any info

Howdy Max:
I had meant to jump in to one of your threads all day and wish you a speedy recovery.
I’ve been bionic for 20 months. Our situations are different so I’m wracking my brain trying to think of what you ought to look for.
By different I meant that I came home with a drain but no catheter, on third day I was back at Dr so he could remove drain and admire his handiwork...so I let the medical guys do the looking for me.
If sutures don’t look right, if you think something is infected looking....I’d take a phone pic and call the Dr immediately. My advice is to expect it to look pretty rough (bruised, swollen) and maybe youll be pleasantly surprised when its not as bad as you imagined.
Doctors are all different. When they took out drain on day 3 they told me shower only for 2 weeks but to start cycling.
Most everything will resolve fine over time but yes, infection is always a worry. Based on where it is, if you have an infection brewing by now you’re probably going to run a fever. I think I’d check my temp and call the Doc if it’s elevated.
The hard part is over with and time is your friend. Your body healing up from this insult is going to solve pretty much any issue you might have. It’s not all that tough to be patient, either....my point of view was I’ve had this done, now I’ve just gotta wait for everything to heal. And it will.

Thanks TX, I tend to over think things, but also like to anticipate and plan as best I can. When you are going through it your mind is kind of blown and don’t think of everything to ask at the time.
