Waiting for my implant questions

Postby Dwoody1977 » Sat Jul 17, 2021 5:17 am

Hi everybody
I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for some advice
I'm 44 years old and live in the United Kingdom Wales and after years of erectile dysfunction and going through all the options from pills to injections to pumps nothing was working I'm now booked in for the 4th August to have the ams pump fitted ... I have a few questions hopefully you can ease my mind mind,
1. im around 5 and a half inches fully hard and I'm very concerned about loosing length as I havnt got to much to play with
I've heard about cycling but havnt really understood this so any help on tips on keeping length would be great

2.the glans / head of the penis are there any ways or tips to get the tip slightly harder or hasn't this caused a problem for people ?

3.can you use the implanted penis in the same way as pre implant and pre erectile problems ?

4.hardness is a concern for me how hard does the penis become ? I've seen different opinions on this so any advice would be great
Thank you very much for any help you can give
Darren

Welcome! It sounds like the time is right for you to get an implant. I would have tried to get an implant at your age if I had known about it as an option.

My answers are based on my experiences and what I've read here. And I have a Titan implant.

1. Assuming your surgeon sizes you right, you should retain your current length. I did. I will say that having a slightly shorter functioning penis is, in my opinion, far, far better than one that doesn't work. I've never really gotten the idea of cycling, either. In order to keep the parts working right, my doctor told me to inflate every day, which I do. I'm not measuring myself. I'm happy with what I have.

2. My implant extends partly into the head of my penis. It's my understanding that this is the correct way for it to be placed. So, the head stays hard, too. And if you function like me, your head will enlarge slightly when you're aroused.

3. Absolutely, I can do all the sexual acts now that I could before the onset of ED. I couldn't at first. For at least two months after I was given the go ahead to have sex, I experienced pain and discomfort during sex. But now I enjoy it all. The one big difference is having to inflate myself in order to have sex, rather than getting hard naturally during foreplay. I usually inflate myself before starting since it's much easier to do with two hands and no distractions. ;)

4. My dick is very hard when inflated. I've had ED so long that I don't recall what my erections were like before, but I believe I'm at least that hard now.

I hope this helps.

Looks like Time2Change gave you a good run down on what to expect. Going in for my implant I knew nothing since I didn't find FT until 5 months later, so it's good you found the place to ask questions.
It did take me longer than most to heal, but I was having sex at 6 weeks post even though it made me hurt later. By 3 months post things were better, and by 6 months post it was no issue.
I didn't cycle, which is inflating the implant for 10-60 minutes a day. That is supposed to stretch the implant and skin to it's max. Again that was something I didn't know to do, then. My guess is I lost about an inch in length but gained some girth. I started cycling at 6 months, 30-45 minutes every day for 2 months. I gained about 1/8" and gave up.
Now at 1 1/2 years post implant I love having it. It gets hard like like it used to and it can do whatever it did before plus if I orgasm too soon it doesn't go soft!
Best of luck on your surgery!

Thank you for your view on your implant experience .. I will try and cycle I thing It can't do no harm and may stop me loosing the valuable size i cannot afford to loose .. its very helpful to know everyone's experiences and gives me some insight in what to expect ....im apprehensive about the surgery bit I suppose that's to be expected and anything is better than the erectile problem I got now

To chime in YES the implant is an amazing device, Now here's what nobody probably told you what to expect right after the surgery.

1. It's PAINFUL and that's putting it mildly I tell guys it's like having a vasectomy on STERIODS!! No joke and I'm not trying to change your mind but be ready it's a BEAST!

2. Hopefully you won't get an infection like I did -My scrotum was swollen the size of a baseball and now I have to have a revision after only four months.
3. Once you get the implant there is NO going back!! if you don't like it and decide to have it removed then kiss sex goodbye because NOTHING is going to work after that.(pills, pump, etc)
4. If your sitting on the toilet and let's say your taking a dunk and all of a sudden you have to take a leak-well before surgery your limp and can just go ahead while seated and take a whizz but not after having the implant. Your going to have to jump up and take a whizz and hopefully you've finished your dunk! because you won't be as limp after having the implant as you were before.

These are the things no one mentioned to me and I had to find out the hard way!-Yes it's a great device but even it has it's drawbacks!!

Good Luck!

I remember the day or two before my surgery debating with myself whether or not it would be the right thing. One thing I did appreciate was hearing from everyone. All opinions matter. And no two guys are exactly alike.

So here is my 2 cents worth.

I didn’t have much pain. I bruised pretty bad, and it looked awful for a few days. The doc sent me home with a drain for a couple of days, on the 3rd day I went in, he admired his work, and they pulled the drain out.

The worst pain I had was on first day, painful urination due to them having run a catheter. That cleared up completely by the second day.

I was sore in the bruised areas, but nothing really hurt.

I took the pain meds for maybe 1.5 days, then a couple of Tylenol if I needed them (I seldom did) then nothing at all.

For me it was a bit more invasive than a vasectomy, but not significantly worse than an ordinary hernia. Nowhere near as bad as shoulder surgeries for rotator cuff and like an insect bite compared to a kidney stone.

The day after surgery I drove 90 miles to pick up son at school and returned as he was having car trouble. Two days after that drove myself 60 miles to doctor for follow up visit and then returned. I didn’t feel the need to lie around to heal. I didn’t get stupid by going to the gym or feeding livestock or driving a tractor but I didn’t shut down and quit functioning. I wasn’t being heroic. I just didn’t feel bad afterwards.

I went from 6.8” to like 4.5” right after surgery. By the time swelling went away it was back to 5.5”. The doc told the truth regarding the need to cycle. I’m a year and a half into this grand experiment. I don’t feel a need to measure constantly but you know,I’ll check every once in a while. It’s back to 6.5” and that’s fine with me. That is 0.3”. Basically 1/4”. I don’t think that represents a bad job by the doc and from my research for all intents and purposes that’s “success” in returning me to my original size.

I lost a half inch of girth, though, from 6” to 5.5”. I think that is due more to putting AMS equipment into a girthy dick. Still, I will make that trade every single day because what I ended up with is (for me anyhow) near perfect.

Maybe I’m just overwhelmingly happy because I had venous leakage my entire life and didn’t know that some guys maintain erections for more than a minute or two. I was on shots for years but in my case they contributed to anorgasmia/performance anxiety which didn’t do a precarious erection any good.

I don’t think of the implant as a foreign object. It’s part of me. It put me in control. I greatly appreciate that.

In the lead up to your surgery, though, the person to question is your doctor. Yes, hearing positive experiences from other guys is a relief and eases the worry. But for all this to happen the right way, you need to be able to communicate with the doctor about your case and have trust and confidence that he will fix you up.

I’ve rambled too much in this post already (Texans are bad about that, it’s called “talking someone’s ear off” here.). But one last vignette. I wake up in the morning. My penis will seem a bit larger and stiffer than flaccid albeit not classic morning wood. I go aheAd and pump it up the rest of the way then get up to shower. I see me and it in the bathroom mirror, and words can’t describe how good it feels to know you e been restored to full manly function.

Thank you for you in depth experience of your implant .obviously most men worry about penis size loss and this is my main concern its been a long time since I was rock hard but then I was 5.5 inches obviously average size im hoping given time after my implant I would get somewhere near where I was.. the pain I'm expecting I've been ill all my life and been through some agonising procedures where I've actually passed out I'm pretty good with pain so I'm hoping I'll get through that bit
I will express with my surgeon before implant is done my concerns about penis length loss
Thank you all for your advice and sharing your stories
