Taking the plunge, finally

Postby aslanglobal » Wed Jul 14, 2021 6:13 pm

Surgery is ready to go, guys. After years of suffering from serious ED, a few recent priaprism injuries, years of considering an implant and consulting a dozen urologists, I am go for launch. I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Hakky in Atlanta at the end of the month. I've read endless papers. I've discussed this with dozens of men. I've looked at every horror story. I hope not to lose much size, but I am prepared for a little. I am prepared for physical pain and sacrifice. I want a sex life back again and I'm willing to endure all of this to get it. It's just scary at the end when its all real. But I don't have any other good option after that last priaprism hospitalization.

If any of you have anything else to share to such a note, go ahead. Either way, thanks for all the message and information.

Pre-Op VED Therapy is said to make insertion of the implant easier for the surgeon - thus the recovery a little less troubling for you.

You have done your research, made your decision and set up all you need to do. Let all doubts, fears and troubles run off like water off a duck's back.

Take the hospital urinal home with you. Even if you pee in the bathroom, it is easier to pee into it and pour the contents into the toilet than trying to aim your stream with an unbending penis.

I second the suggest to use a VED to maximize chances of maintaining size. I believe Hakky is an excellent surgeon. Looking forward to hearing about your experience.

Beside VED you could also give RestoreX a try to maximize results. More info here: https://www.jsm.jsexmed.org/article/S1743-6095(20)30939-5/fulltext

I just stood at shower door and let it fly.

Taking the plunge, finally

Congratulations on your decision. You sound like you did due diligence in terms of educating yourself. I’m 3 weeks post op. Just a newbie but my mantra has been “every day gets better”. Get yourself plenty of ice bags and tight underwear or jocks. My scrotum was swollen ( still is but better) and it hurt to walk with extra weight. The plastic urinal is a great idea. Much easier to pee in that than toilet at the beginning. First few days were the hardest for me. Lots of bed rest. Remember ice! I sa my urologist a few days ago for first time after surgery. She was mildly concerned of my swelling and put me on antibiotics just to be sure no infection. I feel fine so I know it’s ok and she assured me that some guys take a bit longer. I hav been told not to inflate until I see her next week.

I read on this site of sensitivity of head of penis. I very much am now. Taking a shower hurts when water hits it. I wish it felt the other way. Lol

This group of guys has been such a support during all this. All the best to you. Keep us updated with recovery.

Yes good luck to you!-I agree with keeping a urinal near you for the first two weeks. I had mine done in late March(third week) and it's been almost three months and I got an infection! My scrotum was swollen the size of a baseball and I got antibiotics which reduced the swelling but now my doctor wants to do a revision after only three months(Ams) so hopefully you'll have better luck than I did. Not trying to scare you but these are the things no-one tells you upfront.

Good luck, Hakky is top notch. If you get the choice of drain or no drain right after the operation, I would choose drain. It helps so much with inflammation. Take the first 2 days to just chill and do nothing. Everything for me has been 2 steps forwards, 1 step back... don't worry about the 1 step backs..

Hakky is the best!! Eat a bunch of pineapple from now until surgery—a trick he picked up from cosmetic surgeons, it lessens the bruising. I love pineapple, so I went nuts the couple weeks leading up to the big day and I had zero bruises.

Rest up, and relax—you’re in the best of hands with Dr H

Hakky is great! One piece of advice: follow your surgeon’s advice and don’t just try things that you read here. For example, Dr. Eid’s patients can take hot baths on the 3rd day post-op. However, he uses a different closure technique resulting in a water tight seal within 24(?) hours.

Good luck!

Some excellent advise Here from our comrades. I would agree about having a drain in the scrotum. I did not get that and my first opt. after surgery was 4 weeks out so the surgeon did not see how huge my balls got I feel a drain would have been a good Idea for me.
