Implant recommended, although I still have blood flow

Postby aslanglobal » Mon Jun 21, 2021 6:06 pm

More than one urologist has recommended I have a penile implant given two priaprism hospitalizations and long history of ED. I am young for this. 36. The tests showed poor blood flow. I am otherwise healthy. My issue for years is not that I don't get an erection. I get one, even without viagra or cialis. The issue is that is isn't hard enough for penetration, no matter what I do. I sometimes have one that could perhaps be hard enough for penetration right as I wake up, but it subsides extremely quickly. If my blood flow is poor per doppler sonogram, how could I still get an 80% erection? Anywyas, I have battled this for a decade and its ruined my life. I've tried everything else and I'm just ready to be happy and date again. We only live once. Thoughts?

Many of us with implants were good in the same situation as you. Some much older (I was in my 50s when ED began). Got less than hard erections and/or trouble maintaining them without aggressive, continuous stimulation.
ED Is a progressive disorder. I’ve tried pills, injections and they did “work” but didn’t allow spontaneous intercourse and had negative side effects.
For myself, I decided an implant was the only way I could really get back to my old self in bed. 8 weeks post surgery and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Still have pain when inflated 100% but that will subside with time.
If you get implanted now in 10-15 yrs when/if you need a revision advances in implant technology may well be available. Don’t waste your energy and confidence on ED!

Yes. There is not great blood flow happening. I meet w doc again in a few weeks. I was just surprised that the tests showed that, as I have an 85% boner when I wake up or when i take cialis. Its just very bendy, not firm at all, and quickly goes away. I've noticed a definite downtick in even morning wood since my dick was drained of blood because of priaprism. This is all a little bewildering, but I consider myself fortunate we live in a time where such injuries are at least reparable. 100 years ago I would've just died or lost the organ. I am scheduled for an implant in August.

Docs both told me to go to different opinions if I preferred or to keep trying other methods. The cosmetic urologist here in Atlanta basically said, 'there is clear damage to your bloodflow. Keep looking, but after looking at your history, I doubt ti will be very effective. But there's no rush". I feel a rush, i must admit, but I've been considering an implant for years. I was in denial because of my age until recently. I haven't really had much sex in years and I was never the type without a girl just a few years ago. I just haven;t understood how there could be some bloodflow but not enough. I guess that's the progression of damage.

What most guys don't realize is that there is a difference between Morning Wood erections and Sexual Erections. The mechanics are different, i was in the same boat, could get nocturnal erections, but nothing for sex. Also ED doesn't mean you can't get an erection, it means you can't achieve erection for satisfactory sex.
Your dick isn't gonna get better without some type of treatment, ask yourself "am I happy with the way things are?"

Best of luck to you and feel free to private message me if you want to talk more.

Bad bloodflow in = arterial insufficiency
Bad job of keeping blood in = venous leakage

Either one can cause ED. Having both can cause ED.

I am 34, getting implanted in a few days.

Hey ya'll,
I just want to say these messages over the past few weeks have made a huge difference in my hope. I felt like I had been gutted a few weeks ago when I got the news from the urologist. Years of suffering ED as a younger man, and losing romantic relationships, denying many women and losing all confidence in myself had already taken a huge toll. But I was living in denial until recently.

But these message from all of you who've crossed into bionic brotherhood have made me see things very differently. From the great majority of you, I can tell how happy and fulfilled you are with this procedure. I can literally sense the happiness from the way ya'll write. Its given me a lot of hope. A week ago I was suicidal, considering myself an epic fraud and failure of a man. Now I realize there's likely a real way to live a life of companionship and fulfilling sex. I could even have a family perhaps, which is really important to me. Thanks for giving me that hope. I am moving forward.

Good to hear you are taking this seriously. Yes the inability to get and/or maintain an erection is devastating for a male. After being able to get it up anytime for years, when ED started it really depressed me. Went through the pills, then injections until they failed. All I know is I wish I had done the implant way sooner. Pills gave me migraines, injections left bruising on me that remain after 4+ years. But I was unaware of implants until I actually visited with a Urologist.
I was older when ED began around my mid 50's, but at your age I would not hesitate to go for it. Once you are healed with a bionic penis life will be so much better. Good Luck.

I am set for mid August surgery in Atlanta. I have every intention of going through with it. I continue to learn everything I possibly can from others' experiences, but 90% seem satisfied overall. Nothing is perfect, there is always a downside. But I can see this being potentially a godsend for something that has devastated my outlook for years.

Just imagining being able to control my erections and have sex when I choose makes me imagine even the most mundane, unsexual things as more positive. Thanks for the input.
