ViaSwiss' Titan Journal | 34yo | 6.25.21 | Revision 11.16.21

edit 11/16/21: Revision post on page 11

I just finished my pre-op appointment and am good to go for the operation on 6-25-21, one week from today. I've spend countless hours on this forum over the past 3 years and can not thank the men that came before me enough. I think I have read about 95% of the threads on this board. This journal is just my way of paying it forward to any poor souls that find themselves here in the future.

I will be getting a Coloplast Titan, I believe with the original Genesis pump. It will be infrapubic and I will have have a drain left in from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. No narcotics. Just Gabapentin, Tylenol & Aleve (I am allergic to Celebrex).

I am 17cm stretched, so we will see what size Titan he chooses. I am not overly concerned with size. I do expect to gain some girth though.

Background
I developed ED at age 18 after taking Saw Palmetto with grapefruit juice. I developed all symptoms of PFS and have made slow improvement in all symptoms over the past 17 years with exception to ED/sex drive. I've been on literally 100+ treatments with 10+ doctors, some the best in the nation in their respective fields.

After seeing a local urologist a few years back and getting a doppler ultrasound, he was reluctantly willing to implant with a Titan since I had lost luck with pills, injections suck, and I had Venous Leak. However, my insurance at the time had an exclusion. The following year, I had no insurance. Finally this year, I got insurance without an exclusion. Right before then I discovered that one of the top upcoming young implanters in the nation had began operating in Indy (2 hours south of me) so I started seeing him. I liked the idea of not being implanted in a hospital/city where I likely know a number of the nurses. Tatem does 300+ implants per year.

After 3 denials by my insurance this year, Tatem finally got them to cover it. Thank God, because I was beginning to think I was going to have to have to pay out of pocket. Dr Tatem did a vasectomy and epididymal cyst removal about 12 weeks ago, so I had a decent idea of the tender recovery I will go through.

I left out the whole piece about my wife being against my implant and how I am now in the middle of a highly contested and toxic divorce process, but you can read how I came to that decision here ( viewtopic.php?t=16338 )

The only real fear I have is the flaccid bulge. I had a decent bulge even with ED, to the point where my wife would even get made/jealous that other girls could see it. I just don't want it to get any bigger as I treat many children in my daily practice.

Dealing with ED sucks, it just plain sucks. I can not begin to tell you how many times I had a women in bed where I couldnt get hard and had to play it off. It got to a point where I would find naked, hot women in bed with me, but I would make any excuse I could to not have sex with them. It truly sucks. On the flip side, I have been lucky enough to have 2 very amazing children despite this all.

One week from today I will wake up a part of the bionic brotherhood and will hopefully begin to begin testing it within a few weeks after that.

I have family in the kokomo farm community area so I understand your concern there. What a gossip place. I have been watching your posts and am thankful that you finally have a date. Congratulations on taking the step. My only question is why the Titan? Does the surgeon also install AMS 700 lgx? You have mentioned your flaccid look many times other posts. My Dr who has been doing implants for 30 years said he only uses AMS up to 6 inch because it hang so much better. I have 5 cm of RTE inside my cruses and my hinge point is right below my pubic bone. When I am deflated I hang down absolutely natural. When I am inflated I can hang a towel on it. It is rock hard at 3 o'clock. There are no folds or anything to show when flaccid. Good luck with your healing process.

He does a good amount of Titan as well as AMS implants each. I actually wanted the LGX when I first went to him, due to its more natural flaccid. However, he talked me into the Titan as he said in his experience they tend to last longer for younger guys, especially those that are a little bit "longer".

He said that he will be very disappointed if I do not get "a few decades" out of it before a revision.

Agreed that one drawback of the titan is the larger flacid size when compared with AMS models. However for me, girth was what ultimately swung me in favor of the Titan. Seems like generally when I read that someone is disappointed in their girth, they tend to have an AMS 700 LGX or CX. And those pleasantly surprised by their final girth tend to have a Titan. I'm sure all models would be satisfactory for me but that was the big factor that made me choose Titan

He makes a good point there. In that case, yes I would go with the Titan. I forgot about your age. Heal well.

ViaSwiss,

Congrats on your fast approaching surgery date. I've read many of your posts and know this has been a long time coming for you.

I have a Titan myself and just hit three months post-op. I definitely went from a grower to a shower and the bulge can be very noticeable depending on what kind of underwear/pants you are wearing. With the right combo though, it doesn't look anything out of the ordinary. It hangs straight down for me but only after kinking noticeably (and uncomfortably) at the base. Hoping the Bioflex material will soften over time. As for size, I have regained all my length, but not girth. This is disappointing, but I'm still relatively early on in this process. This is one thing to keep in mind for sure--the surgery is just the first day of at least a year of recovery/acclimation. Reading that in a post doesn't sound so bad, but the patience required when it becomes real for YOU is something I underestimated.

Good luck!

Can I ask what was your starting girth? From what I understand, those with higher starting girth tend to lose some while those with lower girth tend to gain some with the Titan

My pre-surgery MSEG was 5.5" fully engorged. It is now 5.25" and stubbornly refuses to change. I lost even more at the base. My understanding is that only VERY large men, think 6.5"+ of girth, need to worry about losing girth with a Titan XL. So far, it appears I am an exception. :(
