Help! Day 3...Horrible swelling

72 hours since surgery. No improvement in swelling. Scrotum stretched to the max. Color is deep red, almost black. Penis is OK. I am doing ice for an hour, then off for an hour. 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 to 8 hours. Pain is not very bad. Just a 3 or 4.

Am I too concerned for this early????

Are you laying down to help this? My doctor had me horizontal and icing continually for the first 2 weeks. When laying down you can use a towel to make a hammock between your thighs for your scrotum to rest on, this will elevate it some.
I wore two pairs of underwear and would place the ice bag between them it helped hold it in place.

I am not laying flat. I am in my lounger, almost horizontal. I have been icing continually. I am using two pair of underwear. I stopped the jock this morning. It was irritating. I place the ice pack on top.

If you think about a typical recliner/lounger the lowest spot is your buttocks/crotch. So this could be contributing to the problem. I would try moving more horizontal and elevating your scrotum on a towel. Fluids flow by gravity so you don't want your scrotum to be a low spot. The other problem with the scrotum is that it is a bag with basically one way in and one way out. so once fluid accumulates it is harder to resolve. I would even try getting your scrotum higher then heart. can you block up one end of sofa so your head is lower then scrotum when laying down.

On the sofa idea, I live alone and don't want to lift. And I will put a towel or small pillow under the scrotum.
