Time to make a decision and book my surgery. I will be paying 100% cash out of pocket, and have narrowed it down to either Dr Eid for $31k or Dr Hakky for $18k. I will add that Dr Eid's $15k surgeon fee (his personal share of the $31k price tag) is warrantied for 3 years, meaning if I need revision in that time it will be $15k cheaper with him.

I am convinced Dr Eid is the #1 in the world, but I know Dr Hakky is great too. Would I be crazy to pay the extra $13k to go with Dr Eid?

Do you know what he will be putting in you, Titan or AMS?
3 years is a good deal if you are active. That is what hangs over my head when I pump and fuck!

I think Dr Eid prefers to only use the Titan. If he gave me the choice I'd also go with Titan.

Are you absolutley positive that both quotes cover the exact or nearly exact items?
Have you worked up a cost estimate as to the travel & accommodations costs?
Will Eid's higher cost hurt for you very long? If you'll have enough cash stock piled then it might be a coin toss.
I generally lean towards the cost savings if everything seems equal. The two doctors seem to be of equal skill. Geez, even if you have some minor items that need revision. It sure would be nice to have a $13k cushion to address them. No, you wouldn't be considered crazy going to Eid. Good luck.

Hi Wolfpacker,

Both Drs are top-notch. That is what you want in this type of surgery. I have been on FT for over a year. Some of the essential items I have learned are getting the best surgeon, making sure they are available and responsive after the procedure. Both of these Drs fit that bill. Equally as important is having a high-volume surgeon with positive reviews. Both Eid and Hakky have this. It comes down to your gut feeling on which one you feel most comfortable doing the surgery.

In my opinion, the out-of-pocket cost is an essential factor, but you will have this implant for the next 10-12 years. The price becomes less important when you look at it from that lens.

I have chosen Dr. Hakky for my scheduled surgery on 7/29. Out of the six urologists I interviewed, I felt that most comfortable with Hakky.

Best of luck,

North329

I think it would be helpful to also compare surgery settings, infection rates, and experience of other members of the surgical team. Both doctors seem to have stellar reputations. Another question to ask is how they handle patients that are between sizes. Do they use RTEs or shave down the larger implant.

Good luck!
