Coloplast pumps
Coloplast pumps
My revision is on 4/9. My first pump was the genesis. The uro gave me the option of the one touch pump. Any opinions on which to go with ? The consensus is that tubing or the left cylinder failed, hence the pump may not have failed. It currently just sucks air. The older pump had the deflate tabs close to the tubing.
Re: Coloplast pumps
Biker60,
Coloplast here with the one touch pump.
Sounds like the tubing slipped out...ouch. Good luck with the revision.
Ask the surgeon (before the procedure) to video the revision.

Re: Coloplast pumps
It’s being done at a big teaching hospital. The surgeon did the 1st implant 14 months ago. He did say if the reservoir is ok, after testing and being 200% it’s ok , he would leave it in. Pain will be less if he does not have to retrieve the original reservoir. I think the tubing and reservoir are the issues.

Get away from the Genesis. They are failing nonstop. I had 2 fail within 2 years. The pump is the issue. Go with a One Touch.
Implanted by Dr. Hakky on August 6th, 2018 Coloplast 22 cm. Genesis pump failure 8/17/19. Revision 9/10/2019. Genesis pump failed 2/27/2020 while having sex. Second revision scheduled 4/7/2020 with new Titan One Touch pump instead of Genesis
Re: Coloplast pumps
I totally agree...get away from the Genesis pump as fast as you can. I would have the doctor totally replace everything new including the reservoir. I been there and done that leaving one and it ended up giving me trouble later and another surgery back in 2017. I also had a genesis pump that failed after just five months. My current doctor will not even up the genesis pump anymore because of its failure rate.
I wish you the best. I just had my revision today 3/30..

Revision 2/13/24 Dr Tariq Hakky, Atlanta (Great Doctor) Titan 24XL no Rte’s. I’m 62 married. I have had numerous revisions due to product and body failures. Always had a Titan ipp.
Re: Coloplast pumps
I don't have a Titan but, I would go with a totally factory connected unit. Field hose connections are ripe for failure. Just an old HD mechanics opinion.

The current model Titan pump is the Touch. The "one touch" or OTR (one touch release) is NOT the latest model, it's the one that was introduced after the Genesis. Maybe your doctor really is recommending the OTR, but I would clarify that with him. I have the Touch pump and it has been flawless after 3+ years.

How many times do you use your rig per week?

I used it often in the 14 months I had it. Kinda think I wore it out. Not really, but my current partner is younger then myself. She is a bit wild durning sex. I was with her on a Saturday night. Did a 20 miles bike ride on Sunday. Monday I noticed the pump area was swollen. Which I now think was fluid from the pump. Couple hours latter, swelling went away and pump stopped pumping. The surgeon liked the genesis because he thought is was easier to deflate then the touch. But originally he mentioned the failure of the newer pumps. I think he was talking about the Ams pump. I had bad peyronies. So since I lost length the Titan made it up in girth. Ams is not the ideal implant for severe PD. Every surgeon I interviewed suggested the Titan.
Re: Coloplast pumps
My implant is the Coloplast OTR. Haven't had any issues with it but then I'm only 1 1/2 years post. I will say finding the deflate button was tough at first. Lots of swelling, tenderness and a finger that has reduced sensitivity made it near impossible for me. Actually had to go back to doc twice to get deflated.
Now I have no problems deflating but use my left thumb, which has enough feeling to find that little button.
