How potent were you before implant surgery

Postby LBC2020 » Fri Mar 05, 2021 1:48 pm

Honest question
I still have potency
Can still have intercourse

But only will stay hard if being stimulated constantly and it’s either instant ejaculation or erection gone in 60 seconds

So o guess by definition I’m not totally impotent

My guess is most on here still had some
Potency before surgery

Is this true?

Erectile dysfunction is defined as "inability to achieve/maintain erection for sexual activity".

Before surgery I still had nocturnal erections and could wake wife up and have penetration but soon lose erection. My surgeon explained that nocturnal erections and sexual erections are not equal.

I also had erections from injections, but there is no comparison to what I have now.

Implant was one of the best things I have done for myself and our relationship.

I was completely impotent. No natural, nocturnal, oral or injected meds produced an erection that was suitable for sexual intercourse. Best I could get is a very good feeling chubby. Maybe 50% max. Most times less.
Injections failed. Implanted 3-21-18 AMS 700 LGX 21 + 1 RTE 100 cc reservoir 6.5" L 5" G Dr. Kramer.

I'm about the same as you and wanting to get the implant.

I lost my potency with age 57. Reason: colon cancer operation

Till that day I could make love forever, was horny like hell, slept with countless girls and women.
I’m extremely grateful for the implant.

My story is exactly the same as yours. Timing might be different, though.

In my late 20s, early 30s, I began to lose me erections if not continually stimulated. Of course, constant stimulation tends to produce orgasm, ejaculation and a refractory period. (The techniques for orgasming without ejaculation, thus avoiding refraction notwithstanding- a technique I have never mastered.)

So there was a window of time wherein I could maintain an erection and coital activity.

Get and maintain an erection with 1) stimulation strong enough to keep the erection and 2) not so strong as to hit the trigger point to make me cum.

Over 3-4 decades that window began to get narrower and narrower. More stimulation required and ultimately reaching the trigger point to cum.

Then, stimulation to get an erection began to be less effective (on top of that window closing).

At that point, I was compelled to admit to my primary care physician (PCP) that I needed chemical help. So, Viagra. It helped quite a bit but began to lose effectiveness over the course of a couple years. The other oral medications followed that same path. The stimulation to get an erection was helped by the drugs. The window between keeping an erection and orgasm opened wider (a little) but followed that same path of closing over time, as each drug lost effectiveness.

Ultimately, no drug could give me a penetration-ready erection. So, I skipped right to an implant. Thankfully, I did not have to go through the intermediate treatments of suppositories, constriction rings, VEDs and injections. (How I convinced my PCP of that is another post.)

Now, Newbie 443 and implant1959's comments about the definition of "impotent" need to be borne in mind, too.

Thanks for that

I just don’t want to bother with Needles and dick injections
Just sounds aweful

The calm that an implant can bring seems worth it

I’m only 40 and that seems
To be younger than most but all the more reason to do it maybe?

Shame is one of the most self-destructive of human emotions. Do your best to let its effects wash through you without touching your soul.

Facing one's shortcomings (and taking steps to either overcome them or work around them) is invigorating and edifying. It is also attractive to women.

LBC2020,

I'm 39 and in a very similar situation. I can still get at least partial erections--nocturnal, spontaneous (rare), and with stimulation/arousal. However, this is only with maximum dose Cialis (20 mg) and also sometimes VED use. I have pretty severe venous leakage and the erections I do get don't last.

I have only experienced injections once--when I was injected with 20 mcg/mL of Alprostadil for a doppler ultrasound at my local uro's office. It is not an experience I want to repeat--I had a very painful, unnatural feeling erection for over four hours and was told to head to the emergency room. Fortunately, the ton of sudafed I took brought it down before that was necessary.

I already have fibrosis and don't want any more. I'm not touching injections.

Instead, I'm having implant surgery later this month.

I sympathize with the mental health implications of ED. It's devastating. Please don't give up and keep fighting for a good outcome for yourself.
