Locked pump

Postby spencer69 » Thu Feb 18, 2021 5:42 pm

Just had my implant 1/20/21. Doc pumped it a bit I guess to keep it up while healing. Close to time to practice pumping. But the bulb is hard as a rock. Doc said it might be locked and to pump and try to release several times. Any suggestions?

Spencer, you don't say what model you received. If you got an AMS 700 CX or LGX, there are some tricks to resetting the AMS Momentary Squeeze (MS) pump. Find the rectangular block at the top of the bulb where the deflate button is, place your fingers on opposite ends of that block and squeeze end-to-end. This is the method to reset the pump. There are other tips found in the documentation package you should have received from the surgeon, or you can download the info from AMS website. If worse comes to worst, you can call the AMS patient liaison for help. They will return your call in a couple of days.

Mine was hard as a rock. My suggestion is to pump and practice. With time and practice it will break in and feel a lot different. Mine after about six months felt a lot different. You just have to use it and it will break in like anything else.

Contact your device's manufacturer's Patient liaison (P.L.)

They are provided by the manufacturers to advise patients on just these sorts of questions.

They know tricks and shortcuts and workarounds that doctors, surgeons and even the manufacturer's sales reps have no idea.

Members here know a lot of those tricks, but the P.L. can walk you through the process on the phone or maybe even in person. Some of them are VERY helpful.

Heat works wonders on a new device. They are self lubricating and as as they set and are not used can stick a bit. Many doctors instructions are to avoid baths for a period of time to prevent infection. So be sure to get the ok before you do that. I don't like baths so it was not an option for me but I did have heating pads. Made a world of difference. And for healing an injury medical folks say ice for the time right after the injury and then heat to improve healing. So it is a win win. After I was cleared for baths I did use a hot shower a few times to help with cycling. As the device gets broken in and self lubricated thing get a lot easier. But heat always make it easier.

Good luck and follow your doctors orders. And welcome to the site.

I am so impressed with all the good advice the users have provided. Thanks to all of you.
I will attempt to squeeze at both ends of the block above the bulb to reset the pump. I'm due for my 1st follow up (5 weeks) since surgery. Can't wait to have it pumped to the max. Although the doc pumped up a bit after surgery during healing which resulted in a partial erection I have had sex numerous times in the last month. 70 Yrs old but extremely sexually active.

I forgot to mention that I had the AMS LGX implant with 23 CM tube lengths.
Question: I read that about 30% of the tube length is internal but 70% of 23 cm = 6 1/3 " external. that's about what at least another 1/2" more than with my pre surgery length full erection. I realize that I am only partially pumped during my healing but my semi erect member now measures 5 1/3" Does that mean my fully pumped Johnson will be another 1" longer? I'll be happy with that. My girth is about the same at 5 1/4".

I sure hope I will able to manage the pump operation. Its a bit difficult feeling the bulb release at this point.
I was told that heat helps soften up the bulb and that operations work better in a warm shower or tub. My new wife loves daily romantic baths and it has become our nightly ritual.
Thanks again for all you good advice.

The estimated ratio of distal to proximal implant length doesn't fit everyone's body. Some people have a *VERY DEEP* crus meaning the inside part may go very deep, but others like myself have virtually no crus whatsoever. I have a 15cm (5.9") AMS 700 CX with no rear-tips. My tips go about 0.5" from the tip of my glans and my penis is about 5.75" to 6.0" in length depending on how engorged my glans gets. This means I have about 5.25" of implant in my distal (out of the body) penis with the other 0.5" being glans. Subtract 5.25 from 5.90 and it gives 0.65" which is how deep my rear tips go into my body.

The ratio that is quoted so frequently is only an average or a guide for reference but not everyone is in the center of the bell curve. I'm on the short-crus side at the far end of the bell curve and those with extremely deep crus' are on the far opposite side of the bell curve.
