One day post OP, what to expect from here?

Postby rms0929 » Thu Feb 11, 2021 6:13 am

Guys, I had my implant surgery done yesterday. Stayed in the hospital overnight. Enough pain to annoy, but getting the catheter out, and regular injections into my IV with dilaudid really helped with that.
For the next 6 weeks, what should I expect, what should I be doing ? Does it look like it should (except the bruising, of course)? Before, I was less than 2" long and pretty slender. This picture was with it pumped down, before I got ready to go home.
I am not quite sure what I am asking, I sound pretty much an idiot, so anyone with comments or suggestions, please feel free to jump in here .........

You'll be fine. There will be some pain, irritation or soreness for a few weeks. Once your surgeon gives the OK for you to start inflating do it every day for as long as you can tolerate. I used to soak in a hot bath for a while before inflating, that seemed to help the soreness a lot.
You were lucky to have an overnight stay in the hospital. My implant was done as an outpatient and I went home with the catheter and drainage bag. Had to remove them myself next day.

I get implanted tomorrow and so I will be following your experience closely. I am extremely excited and from reading the postings, I know to flllow doctors orders religiously and recognize that time is the great healer.

Thanks, and good luck. I'm really curious about how much is swelling, and how much is "me". Just 2 days postoperative and no pain. You don't need to worry, I did enough worrying for both of us!

If no body has said keep plenty of ice and use a towel or washcloth. I drove home sitting on a bag of ice. Had an excellent mentor during my surgery and he couldn’t stress this enough.

Good luck new bionic members.
I am 24 days post-op. I stayed overnight at the hospital. the first 3 days after surgery were so good. I didn't have much pain or swelling. I was taken by this, and instead of having complete rest, I sat and stood for long time, then had a lot of pain on the 4th and 5th days. I was taking a moderate pain killer (Gabapentin) half the prescribed dosage, then when the pain came up, I added the Meloxicam for 4 days, which the doctor said it is more stronger. This helped a lot.
The swelling didn't go away quickly, as I didn't use any ice packs or heating pads. Ice packs were not recommended by the surgeon, as well as soaking in a bathtub. I just kept showering with warm water everyday since the second day after surgery.
10 days away from my upcoming appointment with the doctor to get me going, the swelling is disappearing, but I still feel sore, when I touch the penis. The scrotum is good.
I used fleet enema the first time I had a bowel movement 48 hours after surgery, and suppositories the following 4 days to avoid constipation.
As we know, recovery varies from one another. I see some members were able to have sex in 2 weeks or less. Others have to wait for almost 2 months, but they end up having excellent results.
Lying down as much as you can is key to fast healing. When I used to wake up in the morning, there was no swelling. It increases during the day with sitting and standing. I know it is fast healing vs bill pay, but you will need to optimize.
Wish you all the best!

Every person is different, with me I think they mentioned something about a nerve block so, but my memory of the first day is really fuzzy I know that I only took some heavy duty pain meds at about bed time. The next day when they pulled the catheter was irritating and some what painful the first pee was the same.

I only had a short drive home, once home I sat in the recliner with some pillows under my feet. Only pain meds I had was Mobic and Tylenol, didn’t seem to be too painful I just followed what I learned here on FrankTalk and my doctor’s directions about using ice packs.

Since I was about 50 to 60 percent inflated I found one of those contoured knee pillows right helped provide a space between my dick and sheets when I was asleep. Peeing was into the urinal the hospital gave me or in the shower. That was that way for the first 2 weeks. I also wore nothing from the waist down just a robe also found a baby sock on my dick reduced irritation to my glans.

Good luck on healing, mine went well and now I’m about 18 months post surgery.
