Short Term Healing Experiences Requested

Postby otpchip » Thu Jan 28, 2021 11:16 am

First time poster. So please be kind to my ignorance.

IPP surgery 1/11. (Post surgery 17 days as of 1/28)

1. Continue to experience scrotal discomfort to skin over pump, (which rests forward, between testicles), and incision. (Normal healing)?
2. Last couple days, penile shaft, along under side along cavernosum, has begun to itch. (Is this also normal healing)?
3. A degree of numbness between top of horizontal incision, and base of penis. (Again, normal)?

Saw DR. yesterday for post-op healing exam. Was told everything looked good, and all my symptoms were normal. Also, was instructed to begin cycling the pump from 5min to 60min in the next 4 weeks prior to receiving clearance for SEX!!! (Been about 1 year. TMI? lol)

Cycling irritates scrotum further. And, initial cycling creates penile pain at first which I can tolerable (Excellent results though). I'll begin using 4 finder, 2 hand technique today or tomorrow as I am quite sore and uncomfortable today.

Soooo, what did others experience during this period post surgery? And, and advise?

Thank-you for your time to read this post and offering your thoughts, comments, and suggestion.

1. I had infrapubic, so my scar isn't on the scrotum...But I had varying degrees of scrotal/testicular discomfort for the first 2-3 months. Everything is pissed off right now, and your body needs to both heal and get used to some new sensations.

2. I had some itching as well. Make sure to keep an eye on everything down there...If you suddenly run a fever, or see pus around the incision, or spreading dark red marks, contact your doc immediately as those are signs of infection.

3. I had numbness on the right side of my penis for about 3 months. It has since resolved (I'm at about 5 months now).

I had all sorts of aches and pains through the process...I got cramping around my reservoir, I had some of that penile pain when inflating, felt on and off like I had been kicked in the balls. It all was "normal". I still checked in with my doctor about things, and checked in with folks on the board here, just in case.

Be patient with yourself, it's not a minor surgery....There's now this artificial device inside your body, and your body needs to adjust to it. Follow your doctor's advice, and expect 3-6 months to be fully used to it. From what I understand, there can even be minor changes to size and such for the first year, depending on how often you cycle and/or use it.

Best of luck, keep calm and carry on!

That all sounds normal to me and my experience healing. I still have a bit of tenderness on my sack skin when squeezing the pump. Inflating is painful at first too, but that goes away with time and use.

I am 8 weeks post my revision.
No pain when cycling and having sex, no soreness after cycling.
Most of my glans feeling and skin sensations are back to normal.
With my virgin implant, it took me 6 to get back to pre surgery feeling.
All you mentioned, is pretty much normal feeling and happened to most of us here.

Welcome to the forum, otpchip.

We were all ignorant at some time in our lives and we always appreciate kindness.

All those are normal after any kind of surgery, wound, trauma.

It was months before my scrotum got used to the pressure of pumping up. All our lives, our scrotum skin and underlying tissues have never been subjected to more than the most delicate of touches and now we are squishing and squeezing like fiends! The good news is that you will develop good technique (seems like you already are) and your tissues will toughen up to accommodate the activity. More good news. As your tissues toughen, they should not lose the ability to enjoy a delicate stroking.

Learn to alternate which hand delivers the primary pressure. This will make it easier if your primary hand gets tired or for any reason you cannot use it.

I can honestly say no two guys are alike.

They aren’t alike in how a different surgeon assembles a different combination of implant parts in their pecker and they are certainly not alike in the way they recover from it.

Notaes, CajunJeff, and I all had surgery within a few days of each other, just over a year ago.

We all got 18 cm AMS LGX. I believe Jeff got 1 cm RTE, Notaes got 2 cm, and I got 5.

They were all done infrapubic by different doctors in different states -Tx, La, and Tn.

We were pretty much unanimous in having no or minimal pain.

We all had soreness for a week or theee.

Jeff & Notaes used ice religioisly and didn’t bruise too badly, I wasnt as smart and as a result it looked like they anesthetized me, took me to the parking lot, and ran over my crotch area repeatedly with a large suv.

Who the hell knows why none of us experienced significant pain? Luck. Anatomy. High tolerance. Clean living. No way to know.

I would track the pain, keep a journal, and mention it to doctor at follow up visit. Pain can be an indicator that your body has suffered an insult and is recovering. It also is a signal that something isn’t right. So keep an eye on it and if you need to call the doc and tell him what’s happening, don’t hold back.

I became bionic this AM about 7am or there about. Had a catheter in until around 2pm when it was removed. Never had a catheter before, for anything. Hurt like a MF when they take it out. Currently having pain when taking a whizz (big pain). RN's & Doc say normal. Not much scrotal pain. Surgery was done with general anesthesia and still hung over from that. This was a rough surgery to say the least. Have had several orthopedic procedures done plus a gut repair and nothing compares to this. Don't even feel like having a bite to eat. Surgeon left me about 25% inflated. Installed 23 cm AMS tubes. According to Doc that's a fairly large set of tubes, anyone know for sure? Have had Norco's & ice for pain control. Surgery follow up is 3/2/2021. Suggestions are welcomed. By the way this was done penoscrotal approach. Surgeon is experienced urologist & on faculty of University of Texas, Southwest Medical School faculty.

Welcome to the bionic brotherhood wewokarents. My surgeon puts a catheter in to allow complete voiding, then immediately removes it prior to beginning the actual implant process, (1st time in my life too.). Removing the catheter prior to surgery allows for better "cephalad traction" to be applied, (medical term for just pulling the heck out of it toward your head, to maximize implant sizing.)

The first few times I whizzed was like passing razor blades. But it got better quickly. By the end of day 2, I was back to a normal feeling. However, the meatus of the glans, (pee hole) turned almost black after a few days. Was quite bruised.

I would follow Txagq8's friends and continue using a lot of ice periods. I didn't do that as much either. And, could be contributing to my scrotal discomforts.

Good Luck. Check back in often, letting us all know how your journey is/has gone.

My first surgery in May of last year was exactly like you are discribing and it seemed to take forever to get past the pain and sensation that there is something wrong,,
Turned out to be all normal things that most everyone experience's.
Now I am 8 days post OP, and I'm nervous because everything looks and feels fantastic,,, I'm really not sure why things are going so easy this time,,, but it is a breeze compared to the first surgery.. I even gave it a couple of pumps this morning with no pain from doing it... probably shouldn't do that,, but as long as there is no pain,,, why not ?
I iced immediatly and done it for hours thru out the first couple of days,, kept it elevated,, showered twice a day, and kept it pointing upward as much as possible.
They followed the same incision as the first surgery in my scrotum. I thought it was going to be a terrible recovery after this 2nd surgery,,, but I am amazed at how well things are going,,, and yes,,, I am knocking on wood right now....
Give it time,,, I think most everyone is going thru the a lot of the same issue's that you are experiencing..
After 4 Titan IPP failures within 4 years I finally wised up and went to the Malleable Genesis 23cm- 13mm implanted 2-1-24 and no regrets so far.
For those that are asking, I'm going to change the wifeys avatar weekly.

Day 2.....better for sure. No longer feels like pissing broken glass. I remembered about 5 this AM that there is an OTC for irritated urinary tracts called AZO. It is simply a commercial dye that also has medicinal properties such as irritated urinary ducts usually caused by passing kidney stones. I am going to the pharmacy in a while and get some. It works quickly or did the last time I had a stone. Finally felt like coffee & some food about 4am. Next on the program is a bowel movement (I hope). We will see how this works out!
