Wayne, Thank you for the pointers. Sure don't want pulling that hose out to be damaging or more painful than it needs to be.

I'm somewhat uniquely suited for that suggestion as I have recreationally self-catheterized myself with Foley catheters on multiple occasions ("recreational"="without a medical need"). I learned after the first time I aspirated the syringe before removing the catheter that it can be painful and cause a bit of burning and discomfort during removal and for about 24 hours afterward by doing so.

By letting the balloon deflate naturally to the level reaching equilibrium, the balloon will be a bit elliptical but not so much so as to be hard or painful to remove. Keep the syringe attached to the luerlock port until the catheter has been removed completely so any pressure on the balloon as it's being removed will allow further saline to move into the syringe if needed.

I even told the nurse in the hospital who was removing my catheter after my IPP surgery how to do it and she said she'd been doing them for five years and had NEVER heard that, she complied with my request and it was a totally painless removal. I think she was surprised because I didn't wince as she pulled it out.

Wayne,
WOW! Thank you. I have always been interested/fascinated with sport catherization. I've done lots of unusual stuff to myself, but just never got around to this. I appreciate your candor and helpful guidance. I went over all of this with my husband, who will most likely be involved in some way, and you are much appreciated. If I run into issues, I may reach out if that's ok? Again, thanks! Guys, we're all in this together, and if anyone has questions about my journey/experience, please feel free to ask. Steve

I was sent home with my catheter and drainage bag. Had to remove them myself next morning. The catheter has a bulb on it near where it inserts into your penis. I cut open that bulb, which contains saline, and keeps the bulb inside you inflated. Once the saline drained out the catheter slid out easily for me. The drainage bag was a bit tougher. The stitch holding the tube in was very small and partially hidden in my swollen sack. Can't tell you how many times I pulled the tube thinking the stitch was cut. Neither were much of an issue other than that night sleeping.

Well, tomorrow is the day. Have to be at hospital at 5 am, first up on the schedule. Travelling those 19 miles across town on frozen, icy streets well before the butt crack of dawn should be fun. On a good day it can take 45 minutes. Absolutely no stress...breathe.

BigSteve should be implanted by now, probably laying in a hospital bed. Update us when you can, hope it went well!

Well, it's a done deal. My one and a half hour surgery turned into almost 3. Doc had a great deal of trouble with my Peyronie's plaque, but got it done. Came home 70% inflated. Unwrapping the gauze was harder than pulling out the catheter which was smooth as silk with zero pain. My balls are still in hiding and my dick is turning purple along with my sack. Jock strap is working well it seems. No jock at hospital, just some tight little boxer briefs. I won't kid you, last night was rough, but much better today. Hydrocodone is your friend. Laying here now with frozen peas on my junk. Doc also said my curve was reduced from 60 to 30 degrees. I don't think it was 60, but whatever. Sorry this is so disjointed, but wanted to let you know how it went. Coughing is a real bitch. I will post in greater detail later. Doing this in bed is challenging. And I have pics I'll upload later. Thanks guys!
