I can't give away too much info but I was recruited for a survey on implants. A company is designing an implant that will incorporate a mechanical pump operated via a smart phone app or a key fob device. Box implanted in abdominal pad, wireless charging, versions with better functions possible.
The survey had me add/delete features on a basic device. Very interested if this comes to the market.

Online survey with offer of a $40.00 honorarium? A couple of us already commented that we took that survey last week or this week.
By the way, I didn't see any NDA suggested in the online survey so I don't believe there was any sort of Non-Disclosure Agreement being enforced on that survey.
See my recent thread regarding my receiving the email offering the survey, HERE:

Re: Future Implants
I see a complication. Just a guess on my part. If they sell the auto pump & manual pump at the same time. The auto pump will likely cost more. Since most insurance companies are cost conscious. Cheap is the word. It would be my guess that if you wanted the high tech pump. It'll cost you extra. I hope that the implant companies take this into consideration.

Re: Future Implants
I've been combing the combing the internet for months now looking for any concrete information on future prosthesis. Haven't read about anything like this. With a growing market I figured that I'd be seeing a steady stream of improvements and innovations but it appears things are actually kind of stagnant. The only news I've gotten excited about is the magnetic induction penile implant. You would have to carry a small wand like device to activate it but sounds like a "one and done" option.

Yes that one. You got a lot of funny replies on that post.
As far as insurance costs, yes the bells & whistles model cost more than the basic model. Yes I can see insurance companies saying they'll pay for the cheapest and you cover the rest.
