Considering becoming bionic. Has anyone researched or used Dr Stephen Johnson in the Sherman/Plano/McKinney Texas area? He is really supposed to be good. He also is a Urology Professor at UT Southwest campus in Dallas. He uses AMS implants. He also accepts Medicare. My primary care doc is a prostate cancer survivor and has commented if he had it to do over he would select Johnson.

If looking at UT Southwestern, have you looked at Dr. Allen Morey? He's one of the high-volume "rock-star" doctors some people talk about and he's at UT Southwestern Dallas. If you choose Morey though, make sure he vows to personally do your surgery since UT Southwestern is a teaching hospital and another surgeon in training might do the surgery under his tutelage otherwise.

Hi,
I had two video consults with Dr. Eid. He said he won’t be retiring for a few years because he has two kids in college. He recommended Dr. Billy Cordon at Mount Sinai in Florida and Dr. Moray. He spoke very highly of both of them.

I’m scheduled for a consult with Dr. Cordon in January. I believe he trained with Dr. Eid in New York.

Good luck.

P.S. Before getting any surgery, I always check the web for malpractice suits and revocation of license.

Nice to research for malpractice & disciplinary actions. But please keep in mind that many, maybe even most, malpractice claims are settled before court & frequently include a non disclosure agreement. Thus you might never find them by using any searching methods.

Hope all's well. I live in NY considering a penile implant. Problem is Dr. Eid doesn't accept magnacare or multiplan insurance. Could anyone provide me a list of what they believe is the 5 most popular/highly reviewed doctors for implants? I can inquire with those doctors and insurance if they'll cover. While Dr. Eid is convenient, my job is remote so traveling for a couple days is not a concern. Rather save money if it's not too important to do a surgery close to where I live? Only other doctors I'm aware of is Perito, Karpman, Brock, Hakky, Garber, and Christine. I assume Kramer isn't practicing right now.

The physician finder here doesn't seem to have some of these doctors listed, so I won't go by it.

If paying thru insurance doesn't work out, here is what I gathered from researching out of pocket expenses:
Eid: $31K
Kramer: 24K
Perito: 25K
Karpman: 19K
Brock: Unknown (anyone know?)
Hakky: 18.5K
Garber: Unknown
Christine: 22.5K

If it was me i would reconsider traveling for surgery and stay close to home. I had my implant 9 days ago and have been to the office three times already. No problems but just following my care. He said i would probably see him at least once a week, for 4-6 weeks. After thst i dont know how often the followup are, but i want to be close if there is ever an issue.
We all know there are Drs out there that are "renowed", but is it because they are better then the others, or is it their advertising budget? I know we see these articles of the 10 Best Whatever Drs, but is it more of a Whose Who, and you pay to get on the list. Money is a big issue, i am fortunate and my insurance covered mine with my out if pocket less then $2000. I would check your
insurance website for contacting surgeons and then research them. Best of luck to you.

Good point. Eid is close to me. From a consultation and from reviews, I do believe he's very good at what he does... but you're right. I also believe many top doctors spends alot of money on marketing and hiding the bad, so we have to be careful in our research. He also told me he may retire in a few yrs. For all these reasons, I'm open to other less popular doctors like Hakky who is young, and maybe Perito who is getting older. Hakky's my 2nd choice. He's cheaper, reviews seem great, but the issue is he's not close to me. I think ultimately, how much insurance will cover will be the deciding factor for me. They're working on finding that out. If it ends up being Hakky, I do have a remote job which makes things easier, and I'll talk to Hakky on which urologist can take care of me when I'm back home in NY. Maybe even Eid for in-person followups from Hakky's surgery.

I'm sure there are many good doctors, but it doesn't make sense for me to spend time to closely research all of them. These doctors are just some of the ones I have looked into.

I had my surgery done in San Antonio, Tx by Dr. Leroy Jones. He does training for other Uros and has performed thousands of implants over the course of his career. Proof of the pudding, so to speak, for me, was the outcome. I barely had any bruising, pain was minimal and length 3 months out is only 3/8" shorter than my VED over-inflated 'before'. I expect the 3/8" will be gained back in short order. Having Medicare and secondary insurance I was out of pocket $75 for pre-op testing. The staff was great too. He's mentioned a couple/few times on FT. Some mention that he's a bit aloof but then again so am I.

Had my surgery on September 1st with Dr. Tariq Hakky at Atlanta Cosmetic Urology. He is a very high volume implant surgeon and a great doctor.
My experience with Dr. Hakky and his staff has been nothing short of wonderful. I am 100% satisfied with my implant and only regret that I didn't see him sooner. What sets Dr. Hakky apart is his devotion to his patients. He is available to them in a way that most Doctors are not.
In addition to my E.D. I was suffering with decreasing ability to have and orgasm. I had talked to other Urologist about this and was basically ignored and told it was just part of getting older. When I told Dr. Hakky about it he prescribed Cabergoline and told to give it a few weeks to work. Well it's working well and I am back to having good orgasms again and it has also helped me maintain my testosterone levels. I have never asked him anything that he didn't have a answer for and that he didn't explain to me in layman's terms.
Just a great human being and a wonderful doctor. Anyone seeking a top quality surgeon or urologist should seek out Dr. Hakky, if possible. You will not regret your decision.

Mason James hit the nail on the head. Dr Hakky is the best doctor of any type I have ever met. He is one of a kind !!! He will answer all your questions with explanation that anyone can understand. No fancy words or haughty elevations. He’s down to earth and very straight forward. He is very competent in his skill set but he never brags. He will give you all the facts and not sugar coat anything. He and his staff have been super in every way! I’ve been through numerous surgeries in my life and several since 2013 concerning this implant. Never have I been treated as well in every aspect as at his office and the hospital he uses. Dr Hakky has been a God send for me and my wife. Things happen for a reason that we don’t always or usually understand but at the end of the trial we look back and can see why. I can not convey enough of my heartfelt thanks to Dr Hakky !! Great young doctor with a very bright future because of his compassion for his patients!
Revision 2/13/24 Dr Tariq Hakky, Atlanta (Great Doctor) Titan 24XL no Rte’s. I’m 62 married. I have had numerous revisions due to product and body failures. Always had a Titan ipp.

wow, that list seems like a really really good list !
Eid: $31K
Kramer: 24K
Perito: 25K
Karpman: 19K
Brock: Unknown (anyone know?)
Hakky: 18.5K
Garber: Unknown
Christine: 22.5K

Agree that your list is full of awesome surgeons. My advice is that if you are within 2 hours drive of one of these guys, it is best to go with someone on that list who is within the 2 hour drive. Remember that having issues addressed that require a tune-up operation will be way easier if you can get to that doctor's office easily. It is not just the surgery, it is also the follow up care should complications appear.

(HOWEVER, that being said, I did not follow that advice; and I went with Eid in New York even though I live near San Francisco--I just felt like rolling the dice and going with what I thought was the best in the world---and based on my beautiful result, Eid was worth it)
